Pens and traditional knives

In today's mail call.
4 Jinhao X450 fountain pens. I wanted classic/traditional pens, not gawdy, that wouldn't look out of place in a business setting, at Church, or just being carried by an old thing like me. 😊
The circa 1947 to 1956 Imperial Engineers knife seemed compatible ...

Pens are lacquered brass. Only 647.2 to 669.7 grains with cap and full ink cartridge.
Well balanced in hand, so they wright great.

Posted this yesterday, but it applies nicely here, so I am posting it again.

My older posts in this thread were ruined when the HUNT101 photo-hosting website when defunct - killing all my pictures; I'm going to repost some pen & pocketknife pictures. First shot below is a Case 6380 from 1972 with a deer antler pen that my former First Sergeant turned and assembled for me maybe ten-twelve years ago. I was Company Commander and he was Company 1SG of the local ARNG unit back in the early-mid 1980's. Bottom picture is me and George cutting up on my last day in command - hard to believe that's nearly 39 years back in time. OH

Wow, I really like the look of that tn coated pen!

I always carry a plain old chrome one.

r8shell, thank you very much, I REALLY like the titanium nitride (TiN) coating; it almost has a translucent look to it. I used to carry a plain chrome Bullet Space Pen but I lost it; very depressing. I carried one of their brass pens until recently when I picked up the TiN coated one. They come in a few different colors to include a gold and a rainbow version. the picture below is of my Wife's rainbow TiN coated bullet pen.

I like using fountain pens — here’s a photo I posted in this thread a few years back, but it’s now tainted by the photobucket extortion watermark, so I think a repost is warranted. 😉

But let’s be honest, fountain pens aren’t exactly convenient or reliable for regular, everyday use. Which is why you’re more likely to find me with one or more of these in my pocket.

I have a Fisher Space Pen that I keep in the console of my truck just in case, but I really prefer the ink flow of liquid ink roller balls over ball points.

I agree the Space Pens can feel kinda gummy, but I like having a compact pen in my back pocket.

Another new Fountain pen.
Jinhao 51A Genuine Ebony barrel, and a regular #5 nib.
(A "Tribute" to the Parker 51. Differences include: The Parker has a hooded nib, wasn't available in wood, uses a proprietary ink cartridge or converter, and has an ebonite feed.
The Jinhao has a unhooded #5 nib, plastic feed, comes in a choice of woods or acrylics, and uses the International Standard short or long ink cartridges and converter. Jinhao does have a hooded nib variation ... and costs about $50~$60 less than the current Parker 51 reissue. Oh, the clips and trim rings are also different.)

Paired with my only Ebony covered knife. August, 2020 Buck Web Special 110 with real Ebony covers and an S30V blade.
