Pens and traditional knives

My grandfather's pen and pencil set...

Thanks for sharing!

My last new pen (for a while). Jinhao 51A with standard Number 5 nib (accessory 2 tone gold plated Medium nib installed). Supposed to be a Mahogany barrel, but I suspect they sent the one with Peach Wood. It lacks the reddish hues, and the grain I associate with Mahogany.
I don't mind if it is the Peach Wood, since that was on my list to get next anyway. 🤔
Pen has a converter full of Robert Oster Maroon 1789 red-black ink.
Knife is my "gentlemanly" (even without file work) Rossignol Laguiole. I think they look good together. 😁View attachment 1824232
I think I'll try one of the acrylic 51A's with the hooded nib next, to see if I like that design. I've never had a hooded nib pen... but it'll be a few months.

I bought a few Jinhao pens several years ago and used them regularly at work until everything went remote and digital. I really like the wood-barreled one, but the cap became too loose over time.

My knife is perhaps a little less classy than yours, though

Not so sure about that. My ringlock is a Cold Steel KUDU. I can't find a real Okapi online. (I don't eBay)

It wouldn’t matter - all the ones currently on ebay are either fake, ridiculously overpriced, or both. The last South African guy I bought one from is no longer selling on the site. Luckily I have 5 of the moon-and-stars versions and a plastic handled one - hopefully a lifetime supply (and that doesn’t count the 5 plastic ones I re-handled in wood).

Thanks to an exceptionally generous member, I have a few vintage pens now. 😁👍
First up a c.1940's/1950's dark blue marble Waterman's lever fill.👍 I don't know the model name or number. 14K fine or extra fine nib. Inked with Noodlers 54th MA. a nice "Union Blue". 😁
Knife is a CASE TB61028W DAM teardrop damascus Wharncliffe.

Next a Esterbrook "J" green marble lever fill, roughly the same age as the Waterman. Currently hosting a 2556 (firm fine) nib. Inked with Birmingham Pen Co. 'Pressed Glass' a very nice Teal.
CASE 62131 CV canoe.

Parker Super 21 (lower cost version of the Parker 51. Main difference was the 51 was equipped with a firm gold nib. The 21 has a firm stainless steel nib. Both used the same Aerometric filling system, although the 51 was also available as a vacuum fill.)
Knife is a Solingen advertising or souvenir knife, I'm not sure which. Whatever cruise liner that was on the mark side cover is long gone. Only the glue residue remains above the waterline.
(Sorry. Only office/lab pen knife I have. My only other pen knife meets "Metal Monday" qualifications.)

Early screw-on flat cap Sheaffer No Nonsense pens. (all are presently sporting the "fine" (~0.9 to 1.1mm) stub nibs.)
I had ... difficulty ... deciding on the knife ... Simple/Basic/Not fancy, get the job done, like the pens.
My first thought was a 110 or 7OT. The Trapper was also in contention, but I don't have an USA trapper. Decided on my '56 to '88 Prov. R.I. Imperial Barlow and '78 to '84 Old Timer 858 Lumberjack stockman. They are also about the same vintage as the pens. 😁👍

I got one more to show off, but first I need to get a traditional Japanese friction folder to go with it.
