Perfect EDC?

Guys...I'm addicted to buying knives. Help me please!

Seriously though, I have bought too many knives in the past 3 weeks. I believe on the inside I am in search of the "perfect EDC". Does such a thing even exist? I think the knife companies are doing this to us on purpose, they collaborate to make sure they leave out a small feature on one knife so we keep going :)

I am now looking to re-buy a Spyderco Ambitious (i lost my other one on the first day :( ) The reason I want it is because all of my knives are either 2.5"+ or like 1.3"(spyderco bug) There is no happy medium and unfortunately I live in a city that doesn't prohibit a blade length, but is surrounded by citites that do. So I bought a BM Mini Grip and can't carry it too far out of town. Not to mention the fact that there's nothing fun to do in my town!

So what do you guys think? Is there a "perfect EDC" for you? Are you searching for it? Can you give me like a 30 dollar suggestion other than the Ambitious?

First I'll stop buying so many knives. With all the money you spent on them it will amount enough to buy yourself a CRK Small Sebenza with the Insingo blade. This knife is the perfect edc IMO.

Cheers.

Along the lines of what Seven1Niner said...at higher price points you'll find much better quality knives. Consider selling a few that you don't want/like or saving up for awhile while you search. There are very few knives @ $30 that would be your perfect EDC for more than a few months.

But around your price I would suggest the Kershaw Skyline. Or for a smaller knife check out the CRKT Drifter...it comes in two versions I have both and they are cool little knives that are surprisingly solid.

Just to have a knife for random stuff I may need to cut. Nothin super heavy, just stuff like shirt threads, opening mail, whatever I feel like using my knife on :)

Right now, the knife that I've been carrying for similar tasks is my Spyderco Delica 4 FFG. It's once heck of a slicer and really light weight.

+1 for the delica, you can get them for less than $60 and they are great edc knives for the money. However, I have to agree that you should stop buying random knives and save for something really nice

Maybe a CRKT Eros might be worth a look. Perhaps a Kershaw Scallion? Both are relatively small knives..

I have a few knives that are the perfect EDC. It doesn't make me want to stop buying knives. So I will stress to you the fact that even when you DO find the perfect EDC, you'll want more and more perfect EDC's. I have like... 5 of them. Maybe more lol.

My favorite perfect EDC's:
CRK Large Sebenza 21
Spyderco Caly 3 Damascus/CF
Spyderco Chokwe
Spyderco Chaparral
Spyderco Para 2

I'm going to second those who have said try for some more expensive knives. The Materials, fit and finish, and feel really changes a lot. You'll find the perfect EDC. Then you'll want another one, and another one, and another one.

You can take a gander at all the Chinese Enlan,Sanrenmu knives. Or Opinels and SAKs.

Leek? Amazon sells it in various colors/scales, etc.

Some wise person once said "Perfect is the enemy of the good." Meaning A search for perfection can cause you to pass on perfectly good knives.

I'm starting a 1 step program for knife addicts. Step one is to send me the money you are about to spend on a knife. Repeat as necessary.:)

I have to second what this man said. You will save yourself from having a bunch of knives in a box that don't quite do it for you. Save your money and buy a used small Seb (Insingo or otherwise) here on the exchange in the $300 range and then be enlightened and reach a near-nirvana like knife state.

The hunt is half the fun. Even if you do find the perfect edc you'll still want to try other knives just to change it up....... Well at least I do ;)

Perfect EDC?

Does not exist.

But it sure is fun to try.

Like cars, women, beer....
