Most top cutters with BladeSports right now are using full tang, forward lanyard and rubber handles. Most are designed with the weight forward. No round handles, round twists in the hand in the heavy cuts.
The steel type varies but a lot of top finishing stock removal knives are M4. Forged knives are still pretty varied. Personally I like 1086v.
Most blades are flat ground with a slightly convex edge. Pretty much the same as the ABS has been teaching for years.
I'll be helping out with the Championship event at the Blade Show this year so I'll try and remember to get an idea about the details of the knives the guys will be useing. Check with me there or after the show and I'll give you an up-date.
