since I have been back at the scrap yard working I have picked up a few things.I really love saving stuff from the scrap pile...And since the yard is owned by Mom and my Stepdad Most of the stuff was free to me:thumbup: others I bought from the customer myself....My new Knife Hauler I bought for $500.00 at the scales before the guy crshed her,he painted her but not real good, and then got all the parts I needed out of the yard to fix her up....I bought the lead free silver solder and have 15 boxes that weigh 25 pounds each,it is all in bar stock like on top of the closed box, dont know what I need with this much but it didnt need to be in the scrap.A factory was closing down and brought in the solder along with a few more loads and thus I ended up with the microscopes a drill press vise afew maginying lights a soldering station and a die grinder and a control box for my Variable speed DC motors I got from a different load of stuff from a different company (3/1.5 hp and 1/ 2 hp)got a use for them Found some scrap sterling silver in another guys load of brass and a pewter pitcher that was bent up..a small anvil about 15-20 lbs and a bigger one that looks like someonewelded the horn back on,got about 10 old wagon rims for the wrought iron, and had a big press come in and am fixing it up....Lets see if I can add some pictures..Thought I had one of the press but cant find it,will get one later...

So what do ya think Did I do good,
Bruce

Bruce, you just gotta rub it in don't yah :D. Nice scores! Any desire to part with one of those microscope type things on the extendable arms?

Nice truck Bruce! Good thing you found that first so you can haul all the other booty home. The scrap yard gods have smiled on you.
Dibs on one of the microscopes!

dang it...our scrap yard got new owners and they emptied it out AND stopped selling steel locally...i love junkin..

nice scores Bruce...

Sam,email sent....

Tracy, most yards wont let people go through the piles anymore,Luckily working in the yard I see things first plus since it is family run I get dibs on anything for my shop (unless my step dad wants it)but we have closed for the rest of the month and this lets me set stuff up and clean the shop...I get lots of steel also.

Yea the anvils are really ruff, the bigger one looks like someone welded the horn back on.But I just cant see any anvil go to the junk pile, they make good foot rests on the porch.I have 2 others in ruff shape that came from the scrap yard a few years ago also.

Ahh ok an anvil hord, just like a couple of blacksmith friends of mine, More anvils then they can use in a days time and I cant talk either one out of one. I only have 4 but Im adding all the time

Cool stuff Bruce! I go to the scrap yards in my area as often as I can. There is one down the road from me that I have looking out for some stuff. Its good to be known by name and when they know that I am a knifemaker they tend to want to help me out.

I have this fear that if I dont keep looking someone is going to turn a trip hammer into beer botle caps

Just kiddin about the hord, Like that truck too, early 80's Ford trucks are good to go in my book, if you get tired of that you could always send.........unless your hording those too lol

lolol...Bought a 90 model with a 300 six in it for $350 for my oldest daughter...

Now she just has to get her license
