"Persian" edc blades?

If you want to try the blade shape with minimum outlay then the Ganzo G712 is about $20 at most Chinese web stores. I have one and it's a great knife. After using it for a couple of days you forget the blade shape and just use it.

Really promoting direct Benchmade knockoffs? :thumbdn:

There was a member here who did a stab test with an Emerson Persian that you might be interested in.

That was Edwood7; haven't seen him on here in a while... :(

My vote is for the Bedlam too; what a beast of a knife. I liked it so much I got two of em. ;) One satin (bottom bedlam), one Bk black (top bedlam in pic) coated but now the coating has been used up/off, as I really tested that knife a lot.

Had a Kedshaw Tremor that was a beast of a knife for the money. Gave it to a friend. Discontinued but still available.

He had the best damn pics!

The Kershaw Tremor is a pretty serious knife at a good price, it's discontinued since 2012 but I was recently able to find a NIB plain edge version. 3.75" upswept blade, AO, G10 scales and only about $30.

Love my Spyderco Persian. Use to own a Emerson Persian - loved it, but more self-defense oriented.

Another one to look for is the discontinued Kershaw Packrat.

Would you consider sharing some more info/link? I have an opportunity to pick one up NIB from a collector and would love to see how it held up.

Thanks,

No link right now, but it was a stab test on a free hanging lvl 3 Kevlar vest (maybe lvl 2?). Both a Benchmade Bedlam and Emerson Persian were tested (Ed likes his Persian blades), Emerson punched through farther and with more ease due to the finer tip.

While it isn't the most efficient blade shape in terms of utility, it still cuts and slices well enough for most everyday tasks. Just be mindful of the tip. I do carry this from time to time mainly because it's so damn sexy.

It's quite the meat slicer:)

The Bedlam is one nice looking blade:

Just took a shot of my two Persians for comparison.

Love my Emerson P-Tac.

You win the thread. Don't forget the Hattin, that is a sick looking knife. I'm saving to buy it. :o

i recommend the cold steel talwar. its lighter and cheaper than the bedlam but just as big. the bedlam is nice, but its too heavy and doesnt feel as good in my hand as the talwar.

yeah but i would take an axis lock or triad lock over a liner lock if i was going to rely on a knife for penetration in self defense situations.

also just found this great cold steel video showing the toughness of the talwar

On topic, could trailing points be considered a Persian style blade? If not, what's the difference?

Talwar XL here.. HUGE but still fits in my jeans pocket and waves open super easy. A lot of knife for the money.

That is a fantastic Persian inspired blade.

I have always wondered how cold steel's serrations are to use. What is your experience?

+1 to the CS Talwar if you don't have the cash for some of these other awesome knives in this thread. I have the 4" and it is a beast (and only 5 oz.), the XL must be amazing.
