"Persian" edc blades?

Spyderco Szabo folder is easily one of the best on the market. The s30v blade stock is crazy thick too. If you get one, I recommend the older "lightening bolt" edition that has gold fibers woven through the carbon fiber handle. Also, Boker recently released the Kwaiken with a carbon fiber handle and VG-10 steel. The steel on the old kwaiken was my main complaint, but now its pretty bad ass.

also just found this great cold steel video showing the toughness of the talwar

Cold steel also recently announced that they will be using either CTS BD1 or XHP in many of their knives this year and the talwar was one of them. That def makes it about 1000x better for me. Definitely brings it up to date and worth a look.

Hmmm...this thread may have tipped me over the edge with the Talwar.

My old 1st Gen Ed Schempp Persian was a regular EDC...until it was stolen out of my car.

The bottom knife; Cold Steel Espada XL... Although a bit big for EDC IMHO.:):D (Don't mind the tactical toothbrush... :foot:;))

I've used my Cold Steel Vaquero Grande...some of the small teeth seem to bend...Incidentally, I picked up an XL Voyager clip point to switch off with it, but the Voyager edge blew out spectacularly. The Vaquero is a full flat grind serrated and the Voyager is a hollow ground plain edge -- just could not take the stress. My fault. :(
My observation too. In my case the difference comes from my partially serrated Tanto Voyager, CS gives them chisel grind that helps with the teeth strength. I think it is about 20 degrees angle, not completely positive.
It chops very well for a knife of this size, cuts just fine, I have tons of canvas materials from some tents, stripped from the frames with it. Not a great stabber because of the tip shape, but not bad either because of the smaller bevel angle of the chisel grind, I guess.
Serrations some times drag in a softer material if I try to rip something off with it.

The Talwar is on my short list as well. On Cold Steel serrations; they are wickedly sharp, will slice paper cleanly out of the box, but they are not durable and will break off if cutting anything dense/hard. The best part is it doesn't matter, they are still sharp after they've lost their teeth. But I will not buy any more of them.

I couldn't resist posting my only Persian style blade. This is my first Spyderco, and the knife that really got me into collecting them so it has a lot of sentimental value. Besides that, it is a tank of a knife, locks up like a vault, and still to this day is the most comfortable handle I've held on a folder.

Damn, I miss this knife. Thieving bastards...

I have edc'd a Persian style blade for years..... The love began with Spyderco Persian (My absolute favorite folder) and I've carried Cold Steel Talwar (custom shop version ), Spyderco Massad Ayoob, Benchmade Bedlam, etc....

I love the upswept design especially on my Fallkniven volcano. One thing to remember is what your primary use will be because this design in certain models doesn't handle torque as well and off comes the tip. I have a bedlam and love it but its just for cutting, slicing etc. I carry a small fixed blade daily for anything that requires a little more umpff. Good luck

I've just discovered the Emerson Hattin. Anyone know if more of those will be made?

Custom knife factory morrf. I own one and it's a great knife. Thin and sleek while still sturdy. Fantastic flipping action. It rockets out faster then most assisted knives. Great ergos, and it's one hell of a looker uploadfromtaptalk1425618873442.jpg

i recommend the cold steel talwar. its lighter and cheaper than the bedlam but just as big. the bedlam is nice, but its too heavy and doesnt feel as good in my hand as the talwar.

The talwar is an excellent choice. You've got the thumb plates which I love, great ergos, a mean defensive blade, triad lock, and it can be waved open. In the $100 range that knife gets my vote 10 times over. I love mine

The best looking Persian folder IMO:
