Personal Preferences

I would love to be an "accumulator", but I really don't have the flexibility of finances to accomplish it. I had a serious chunk of change that bankrolled the original acquisitions but at this point, if I want something new, it usually requires that something else be sacrificed to make room.

I went on a bit of a tear last summer, giving up several Busses for other makers' stuff. With a couple exceptions, those have been converted back into Busses. My latest addiction is custom slipjoints. Oof! They can get expensive.

ive never developed an appreciation for slipjoints. for you, what is the attraction? other than individual knives being unique, what is the draw of the slipjoint?

Hmmm. I know Alaska Knife advertised yours at 3/16, but it is obviously thicker than that, which I did not realize. The one Jaxx got is supposed to be .25. Maybe they are the same.

3/16 would be about .185, correct? mine is definitely fatter.

Ditto on size, approx. Well... there's green IN it... Lemm go take a pic of both my meaner and the jack... I believe they are the only 2 I have in GL.

I started with a Satin Leaner looking for the perfect EDC, I stepped down to an AD, not enough knife (and too pretty to use), up to a Badger, too much knife, Defender, not my style .....

I'm with Drew in that I prefer small blades ( LOL, I've got 7 BM's

), so it was cool when the GW's came along, I EDC the LE around polite company. CO has a 3.5" limit, actually < 3.5" so I don't risk the LrMS around town. The GW's not pointy enough, so I carry an HD when I'm out with the dogs. Funny how the HD seems much larger than the AD.

I was also looking for deals, I snagged some great deals over at that auction site and that set the boundaries of my collecting, just trying to fill an inside straight.

Here's what my collection looked like in the fall of 05,

Only ones gone are the BAIII I traded for a BA-E and the Leaner LE I swapped for a DC Snakeskin Leaner. I sold the SJ, I felt so bad, I replaced (x2) within a week.

I haven't taken a "family" picture in over year, it's overdue.

I like "sets" and military overruns, and low count runs out of the custom shop, since this picture I filled in the Basic's, some smooth, some rough, I've got all the E's, dups on some, different finishes. I'm with Aaron, love those E's. I don't have any complete sets of one finish, yet

it would be far more helpful if you send me the meaner so i could to a side by side comparison.

Heh-heh, I'll try it my way.

Here's the pic...It seems, with them side by side, and with my 3-finger also ( I don't know if IT has green linen, but it's green something.) that it depends on the coloring of TAN in the mix.

Following Rick's lead, here is the evolution of my INFI compulsion, er a my hobby.

Laying them out, I know where I got everyone, most of them came from guys right here on the forum. So thanks folks !

Maybe we just rent INFI.

For a while there, it seemed like I was dropping the big ones and only getting the little guys. Choosing the rather arbitrary designations of large (7"+), medium (>5" but <7"), and small (<5"), I looked at how my general distribution has shifted. At the end of 2005, it was 5, 5, and 8. Last fall, it was 4, 5, and 10. Counting the still pending Ruck and Frosted Jack, I am now evenly balanced with 7 of each category.

Over the past 14 months I made the following moves:

Added: FBMLE, NICK XXXL, NICK Fighter Variant, ZTSH Custom, Force 1, SJ-Variant, 2 SJLEs, ZTNO, PH, GWLE, BW, and PR Variant.

Dropped: ZTBM, HOFSHLE, BARF, EU-17, PBF, ZTNO, MrS, BW, BA3LE, LrMrS Custom, OD, and AS.

Swapped for replacements with Black Paper: AD, SJLE, GW

Still waiting for: RK-38, Frosted Jack

Anyone else find their tastes changing?

The Satin Black Paper LrMS

is my favorite, but it's too big for town

, I've been edc'n the HD for a while, rotating the GW LE. I stick an AS in my back pocket when I'm not caring a belt knife, and then forget it's there, so I usually have it too.
