Pet peeves about knife discussions and youtube videos

Certainly would not say that. What I am not clear about is the utility of a push button flipper. It seems designed simply to be played with rather than as something useful. I admit I like to do this very thing, but I would love to hear how that feature imparts additional quality to the knife.

Three words. Ease of opening.

What's the big mystery?

Like craytab said, you may not like the feature, but that does not mean it doesn't serve a function.

And, the implication that everyone who does like its function is merely playing, is pretty offensive.

Pet peeve that goes hand in hand with the stretched out arm pics.. People who post their vape setups with their stuff thinking that bragging about their addiction is cool in some way.. Always makes me chuckle, and then move on..

See? That wasn't so hard to admit. A flipper knife is not an automatic knife. Under your law a flipper is up to discretion if it can be deployed with gravity. Under many laws an Automatic is automatically illegal (because it is automatic).

Automatics open with spring action and some sort of button. People can flip open gravity knives. Don't have many but my SOG Vulcan is a fair example of a flipper. They changed the law in my state so everything is legal and subject to law enforcement interpretation if the knife is being used as a weapon.

1. Distracting backgrounds
2. Disgusting backgrounds
3. Background noise (babies, carhorns, wind to the point you struggle to discern what's being said)
4. Cigarettes/vapes/and are you kidding me (in two I've seen) 'baccer spit'???
5. Useless/Excessive Profanity (I'm not a prude but this isn't BET or prison-act like a civil, educated human for Christ's sake...)
6. Feet under your foreground or still pic
7. UGLY feet under your foreground or still pic
8. People that have Chris Reeves knives...(check my location at the upper right...) ;) I always think that if they have the money to buy them they ought to at least be educated enough to know his name is "Reeve"...
9. Like someone said earlier, people just spouting back YouTube and knife forum lingo and fluff...
10. Long fingernails (I recall an Asian sounding guy a couple years ago that did an otherwise good review but you couldn't shift your focus from his long nails-several commenters even remarked about this.)
11. Dirty fingernails (as stated already). Jesus.
12. Distracting/excessive tattoos
13. People who sound like they live in mom's basement talking about the folder they "literally trust their life to", or reviewing a knife that's only been available for a few months and they talk about all the use they've gotten out of it for months or years...

(yes I AM opinionated!) :D

This isn't BET?

I'm wondering if you could expound on that.

Sorry, not meaning to offend, to me that particular feature (effortless flipping) seems only designed for playing, I don't really understand the "function". And to get this feature it feels like you may be giving up some durability and even safety.

I think people love the idea of getting all the advantages of an automatic while getting around the law.

Vulgarity isn't vulgar to anyone that has served as an infantryman. It's just common speech.

1) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as the customer/buyer likes a knife, they can whatever the heck they want. Personally I prefer to have more grip no matter what size the blade; that said, I also (personally) like symmetry. Really, it depends on the knife and its use, but I think a 50/50 blade/handle ratio would look silly with Bowies and/or those made for shucking oysters.

2) Here in California, if a blade is too easy to open, it's often seen as "against the law". :thumbdn: Assisted or not, you can be arrested for this stuff. So while I get what they mean, sometimes it isn't feasible everywhere (even if we'd love that kind of ease).
California sucks. Any knife can be opened fast.

I hate facist states, they make no sense

We seem to have a few very bitter people here. However, the General Knife Discussion is supposed to focus on knives, not other peoples of the world, or social policy, or opinions of local politics.

Take the trash talk to Whine & Cheese. Infractions await those who cannot comprrehend this.
