Phatbob and a little of my professional life

Moose, I know what you mean about it carrying like it isn't there. It's really peculiar. In the pocket you don't notice it. I think it must be because of the lack of any sharp edges.

All I know is that you are responsible for this nonsense. I would have been able to forget about it if your timely post hadn't come along. It was one of those situations where its on your mind but as long as folks aren't talking about it, then it's easy to ignore. Well so much for that attempt. My name is Brandon and I lack the self control necessary to not buy new knives.

Hi Brandon, my names Moose, and I too lack the self control of which you speak.

Two things in my house costs us more per month than any other, knives and kids. :D

We have just come to expect it, and budget in "knife money" as my wife calls it, now. Working with Kabar doesn't help.

Brandon, if it's any consolation, I wasn't going to buy an LE PB until your post :)

Now you're just patronizing me ;). Nevertheless, yes, it does make me feel better. The population of Rock Bottom is growing by the moment and at least I know I'll have a couple of folks to talk shop with when I get there.

I bought one of the regular pb's a while back. Love this knife blade lock up seems like it could be a little better but it serves the purpose and hasn't failed so I'm good. Also a great slicer.

Holy mooses, man, I second that request. To me the lock on the PB is the stoutest I've ever used in my life. I flick this blade open and the click of the liner locking into place is like the thundering roar of an angry Zeus.

As far as a liner lock goes, I have to agree with you. Mine also clicks into life with a thunderous Zeus .... Well you get the picture. I am wondering if Rat may have gotten an anomaly. His is obviously different. That was one thing that really struck me about the PB; the lock engages with authority.

Wow, I hate to hear that. Mine locks up SOLID. And with authority. The detent is perfect, because once you apply enough pressure to overcome the detent ball, WHAPP!!! start cutting.

I talked to Bob Dozier yesterday, on the phone, I plan on going out to his shop and visiting with him in the future. His knife's are cutters, pure and simple. AND we are talking about a guy that has been behind the grinder since 1960.

My Phatbob acutally pulls itself into the media making it a real aggressive cutter. Fuzzies aren't easy with this guy, but tent pegs are a breeze. :D

when I flick mine open it the liner lock snaps into place with a loud clack. But when you push on the back of the blade you can see the liner flex and feel the blade move away from the stop pin, other than that I love this knife. Like I said before this knife slices like you wouldn't believe(well I guess you would since you own one). I love the shape of the blade and handle and the way it feels in the hand.It seems like I always end up with the lemons, now to figure out how to make lemonade:)

I would imagine that ka-bar would fix or replace that for you. The ten or so that I played with in the shop were all extremely tight on the lockup. I think you got the anomaly. Hit them up and see what they will do for you. I am sure that they will resolve it.

that seems really unusual... while the PhatBob isn't a frame lock with nearly a 1/4 inch lock up like a Sebenza (and little is ;>), mine locks up so solid, i couldn't believe it.

talk to KaBar.

FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!! You got so lucky, the D2 version is a good one to have. I have the AUS8, which is fine by me, but I do loves me some D2.

It feels like a tank, but for some reason, carry is just like its not there, and it has that smooth pocket worn finish to it.

I actually washed mine this weekend, I was cutting up some bratwurst (:D), got done and scrubbed the knife down real good, oiled it up, and sharpened it. Like new, and that micarta is nice looking.

Cool, this PB is getting some pos. buzz for sure. You reminded me about washing my Mule in the shower, ok, ya, both of them.:D I was tired and lazy so I brought it in with me and cleaned the blood and fish snot out of it.

Its so much easier that way. And I'll you something else too, I wear my hats to the shower, and wash them too. I don't put my Hero's Hats in the washing machine, so, I just wear them in the wash. My pocket folders do too.

I had a buddy that would take his issued M4 to the shower after a trip to the field (72hrs), wash it up there. :D

I don't have a mule to wash, but I gots me a Phatty.

:D

Mule or Phatty, both useful when entering the bush. :)

Here are some shots of the LE. Lock up is rock solid. FF is very nice on the entire knife. Blade grinds are even with a beautiful hollow grind. I can't post dealer info here but if you want to email me I will gladly share all of the info. Here are the pics. Btw it was a $100 bill flat. Well worth it in my opinion.
