Phatbob and a little of my professional life

and it's thinner :)

one can REALLY polish those scale up super nice to

$50 more? really. mmm. yeah. well. huh. okay, i'll keep that in mind :)

Yeah, put that way, it's twice as much but I don't know if you get twice as much knife. I don't have a lot of experience with Aus 8, but from what I do have, it worked well for me. However, at $100 bucks I am more than satisfied with this knife. I think it was a deal at at the price I paid. Of course it seems very likely that it's a steal at $50 with Aus 8. I am a huge fan of this knife, it's quality, and value. I am even more excited now to get my first Becker.

same company but oranges and apples... Becker is GOOD :) well, i think :> 30 year fan. i'm only recently a fan of the Doziers :) but i'm thinking i like the AUS8 a lot. the D2 might go for years without sharpening. one will see.

Btw what grit should I start with. I know that I currently have some 400 and 1500

i think i was told something like 70, 120, 240?

i'd remove them from knive, and sand them LIGHTLY while wet (that's just me but it keeps the dust down), WEAR A MASK [1], and do it outside if possible. by hand.

a buffing wheel and a neutral color rouge would be handy... no reason why you can't go up to 400 and 800 if you want SHINY, but it might interfere with grip.

[1] this material is nasty to breath. no joke.

Cool, thanks! I have a respirator, so I'm good on that end. I'll pick up some more supplies tomorrow. I'll post pics when i'm done.

ALERT! Dude 70 grit (I think youll only be able to find 60) is way way too rough for phat bob scales! WARNING!

I dont have my D2 pb yet but Ken said they have a satin finish on the scales, so I'm thinking you may want to *start* at 400-600. I don't think I'd touch my vanilla pb scales with under 400.

I would be sure and finish with some 000, 0000 steel wool and mineral oil.
