I will just give the facts without the emotion, Iam pissed! He basically said I have your knife you ordered, here is a pic of it, time to pay me for it and I will send it out.So I give him my credit card info, and the knife does not show. Then today he says The knife is now here I will send it out to you. What the F^%$ ! He basically told me he had the knife when he did not, or he had my knife and sold it and just ordered me another one.Either way he wont give me a straight answer. You should not tell someone you have a knife in hand if you do not. There is a lot more to this story I dont want to bore you with, I will post all the emails if need be and you can see the whole picture of what happened.Iam pissed, I felt Like I had to vent my first deal with this dealer here.I understand he is a well known dealer but this is not the way to treat people on the forums.
Matt

If you read on you will see that the problem has been resolved.Phil is a straight shooter, honest dealer.
Matt

Matt,

First, sorry that you are having problems. I hope you get the knife and all works out. I have not dealt with Phil, but I'm sure this will work itself out.

Whit that said, whatever you do, do not post personal emails here. Personal emails are expected by all parties to remain that. Once someone begins posting them in a public forum, others lose the ability to trust that the poster will not someday do the same with their emails.

Good luck,

-Al-

What we have here may be a failure to communicate on Phil's part. There are reasns that something like this can happen. When the knife was getting ready to be shipped it could have been discovered that there was a problem with it. Instead of shipping you the knife with a problem Phil could have ordered you in another one. Even if this is the case, you should have been informed. You should have been given the choice to wait, maybe take a different knife or get a refund. The charge to your credit card should have also been reversed and you should have been re-charged when the replacement knife was ready to ship.

I do not know the whole story behind this transaction as you have not told us much. How long was the time between Phil originally telling you the knife was ready to ship and the second time he told you he had the knife in question? If he knew there was another one coming in within a few days, that might be the reason he did not inform you of problems with the first knife.

The above scenarios are just speculation. What I am trying to say is that sometimes things happen and people don't handle the problems as well as they should. Hopefully things will work out to your satisfaction.

I never say anything about anyone problems, but this
bashing on people for tiny little mistakes, or misunderstanding's
is lame, maybe the guy had some circumstances that he didn't
feel like sharing with you, or some other problem, give people
a chance to do you right before you have fit, people are
to touchy about these things, I'm sure he will take care of you,
and get your knife to you, so you had to wait a few extra days,
it won't kill you. Lighten up people, we all love knives and
that needs to be the focus.

It is BAD BAD BAD that everyone wants to drag everyone else thru the mud here before things get resolved...............I am SURE YOU WILL GET YOUR KNIFE>>>>>>>>>>> you might have to wait an extra day or two.. but like you said its the end of the world..................

Just like the post the other day with the guy from Israel....
in the end the poster said everything is fine and things got worked out and why am I bothered....
I will tell you why........
The post saying the guy is a butthead is STILL UP THERE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE>.....
I am SICK OF THIS CRAP.....grow up!!!

Sincerely..............;)

Zoso, This has nothing to do with little things or being petty. I felt that he was not being truthfull with me, I dont believe this is something little or petty.I dont think you know enoguh of the facts to make a comment like this.
Matt

Phil has as of now taken care fo the problem. We worked it out.Did I have to post this to get it taken care of? May be, may be not.Since it has been resolved I would deal with him again.
Matt

You guys wont understand until this same situation happen's to you. There was a lot the was not put in my post.

I never reply to any of this kind of CRAP but this is a pile of it. First off Phil is the best it get's as well as a personal friend of mine. Phil NEVER tells you something that isn't true. I to had a knife on orded of the same circumstance and what was said was the knife was being shipped from the maker to Phil, not from Phil to us. There was a small delay on the part of the maker not Phil. As for the photo that was sent it was a file photo and was made very clear. Matt I'm sorry you misunderstood was was told to you but that's exactly what it was a misunderstanding. PHIL is not only the nicest guy you will ever meet but he is as honest as the day is long and one hour longer. If you would have taken a few minutes to communicate with him instead of writting him derogatory email's you would have found that he would have taken care of you the same way he did for me.

Masterchef, the email to me over a week ago said the knife is here, here is a picture of THE knife. Not that the knife is on the way from the maker, here is a pic of a knife LIKE the one you ordered, this was NOT explained. So your experience is NOT the same as mine is it.
Matt

Tom Mayo, the timeframe has nothing to do with this.Where are you getting the end of the world crap, never mentioned that in my post? I also never called anyone a Butthead, or any other names.
Matt

My TNT just started burning my leg in my pocket, what the hell! Hawiian voo doo? he he he

I wasn't going to post anyting but it was just a simple misunderstanding I got excited about some knives coming in and jumped the gun on when it would show up.

I am such a bad knife dealer that I sold Nick the knife at cost and threw in a free Tuf Cloth knife cleaning kit.

Boy, don't ever deal with me guys:)

Thanks for the order Nick.

Enjoy your new awsome Scott Cook Masterpiece.

Phil

2 The Hilt PHIL Thanks for clearing this up and returning honor to the good name of Phil. :D

This was a scarey thread I actually found myself agreeing with Tom Mayo. Are any of us that desperate for cutlery that we can't ask the guy that we're dealing with for a simple answer of what's going on with our order before posting about it here? I think this thread and the Gadi thread says a lot more about the poster than the person they're posting about. This should be a forum as a last resort to resolve a real problem and not, "So and so told me a fib." I had a feeling this was just an honest mistake

I called Phil after I read this thread because I was shocked at how he was thrown under the bus in the original post. I have never known a retail deal with 2TheHilt to go south or otherwise be conducted with anything but professionality.

From what I heard, Phil was indeed communicative with the customer and in my view, without question, conducted himself as I have always known him to. He explained the oversight, refrained from charging the customer's card until the item shipped, and ultimately filled the order promptly.

I do appreciate Matt's disappointment in the misunderstanding and I am glad this problem has been resolved.

I've been dealing with Phil for a couple years now and have always found him to be an honest and understanding person. Sometimes things get messed up unintentionally. I'm sure he meant well, and giving you the knife at cost Matt, shows what kind of person he really is. I would not ever hesitate to use his services in the future. ;)

Hold the presses!!!!!

I am at fault for this whole thing. I got home and just realized I got Matt confused with a guy named Nick. Matt lives in CA and ordered a Black Micarta handled knife. Nick lives in Hawaii and ordered a Snakewood handled knife.

I got there e-mails mixed up and e-mailed Matt that his knife was being shipped out today (I should have e-mailed Nick). When in fact I did ship out Matt's knife last week. UPS ground to CA takes a while so I would guess that Matt you will get it any day now.

Well Nick, if you read this you got a great deal on your snakewood knife a and free knife kit.

Matt, sorry for freaking you out and causing you all this pain.

I just wish I would have figured it out before you posted.

Sorry all.

Phil

No problem Jack, I mean Phil! he he :~) Looks like its all streightened out now? Thats why your emails really through me for a loop!
Thanks
Nick, err, I mean Matt!

I've only worked with Phil a couple times on some production knives, but both times he gave me a great price and the knives showed up promptly. So it looks like things got goofy on this deal, mistakes and misunderstandings do happen...we are not perfect beings. Forgive & forget and live longer & happier because of it.

I'm still not sure why this got dragged out on a public forum, whereas with a little patience and communications it probably could have been figured out without any harm being done. Some of the best customer service I've ever experienced came when an error was made. It's one thing to make it right, it's another to admit it, live with how things ended up (sound like it was a loss for Phil) and then go the distance to make sure all is well.

As stated before to you Phil, we'll be doing biz again in the future, you can count on that.

Phil is number one in my book. He is right up there with the Blade Art Guys. Don't shred him for being human.

Please.

Sorry.

We don't delete threads or erase anything here at Bladeforums.

Since this has been worked out, I see no reason to post here any longer, and if that happens, the thread will die on it's own, and move down the list.

Normally, in a case like this, I'd go ahead and lock the thread, but I'll catch hell if I do.

Let it die, folks.
