Stumps last proto photos lets you really look at the scales. Which I guess I fall in with Buck for not liking them. I believe they are Delrin, the matte black just doesn't do it for me. I am sure the scale material is a brother to the yellow version. I do appreciate Buck trying out some new 300 scales. At the coffee table I would bring up maybe they were trying to get something to replace the black sawcut version. Since it is the oddball in the 300 manufacturing line-up. (So long knife,bolt and hammer)
My recommendation would be to proto some jigged black delrin to see how it works and we here may greatly approve that old style jigging look. Amen?
As far as the user / proto discussion. If you want a black handle, why not just get the sawcut version for a user. When these protos were offered, they were cost effective, but I bought a proto for my collection and eventual display in future. As a old fart my carry 300s are old Schrade contracts or Bucks 425 steel 300s. Everything else is a 'future' collectable, and I don't get many of those.
