  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Photos of Schrade I*XL Collection.

Most unusual, stamped 1980...proto?....Hoo Roo

The bone looks the same as what's found on the BS20 & BS60 and the Schrade Tradesman Series of knives from the same period so I think it's a legit factory knife. I think all these giant stockman knives were hallmarked 1980.

My best guess (re. it's origins) was same as yours, that it was a sample, made when planning the original Schrade I*XL Commemorative set. Maybe it's a personal "lunch-box" knife made-up/ordered by an employee for their own use.

Last possibility, that I came up with, is that it's an unknown SFO, made in unknown quantities. I'm sure that if someone had wanted to pay Schrade to make 250 of these knives they would have. That's what they did. The SFO might have slipped under our collective radar. That said, I have never seen another like it.
