Just finished this up... figured you guys would like to take a peak! Matte black DLC on an EDC w/ the OD green scales looks fabulous together imho

I'm thinking about scoring an extra Utility Fighter when Nathan open the preorder on that pattern so that I could ask you to consider doing a special project on that (3rd) UF for me, please :)

So much movement in the ironwood with only a small void in the knot, “C” grade seems a lot harsh, but it’s not my show.

I agree! I really like these scales, almost more than my a/b grade since it feels a more alive. It’s got a bit wabi-sabi going on. “C-grade” definitely does not mean bad or ugly in any way. Just not completely perfect as the a/b ones.

they are bookmatched from Individual blocks. The scales were 1 block cut into two. Frustratingly sometimes one side does not match the other from the same piece of wood...
Just to make sure we're on the same page, by book matched you mean splitting the block and the insides become the outsides, right?

Sort of. I guess that's how furniture is done but the knife scales are split and the insides go on the tang. Putting the inside on the outside would result in the matching wood being machined away. But a single block is split in two and opened like a book and bonded to a liner and processed.

That explains it:thumbsup: Traditionally (at least in my experience) book matching refers to the method I described which is why the scales on the knife I posted are mirror images grainwise.
