Photos! Post your CPK photos here!

I consider myself very fortunate, Dave. On a few occasions I was just simply in the right place at the right time, be it placing well in an open sale or seeing something listed on the exchange before someone else did. More often than that however, I placed horribly in those sales or just missed seeing something sold that we would have both pounced on given the chance.

So really, the things I have been able to acquire have been through relationships fostered here on the sub. Sometimes I have reached out expressing interest in something someone has. At the same time, guys have reached out to me when they are looking to get rid of something and I have been very lucky when that happens.

I don’t think I have ever tried to beat anyone up on a price, which I think helps. I either accept what they are offering or I respectfully decline. If there is question as to what something is worth, I try to give a very detailed description of how and why I come up with the values of things. I like to think that position has helped me more than it has hurt me, even though I can recall a few knives that I could have ended up with had I haggled a little bit.

Lastly, I try to keep the karma up just in case it helps. I pretty much stopped selling CPKs on the exchange several years ago. Instead, I’ll keep an eye out for when someone is looking for something that I may have a few of. I have back channel put guys together with some of the retired models at the makers price or below whatever the current secondary may be. Some of those deals have resulted in them coming back to me with something down the road. Again, I think this practice has helped put me in positions that I would otherwise have not known about.

Most importantly, there is nothing about what I may have that should diminish how anybody feels about what they have. If you have one CPK, you have something that I will appreciate. Believe me, there are guys out there with only a few knives that I would love the chance to have something out of there collection. I am sure you have plenty of things that I would find more than desirable.

I have historically not really shown anything I have gathered in the past. I am not looking for attaboys, to show off and certainly not to make anyone jealous. That said, I plan to try and share a bit more of the CPKs I am lucky to care for moving forward. There are two reasons for this. First, some friends here have good heartedly ribbed me for a while now about never showing anything or even talking much about them. So, I need to shut these assholes up. Second, Nathan and company have made some truly amazing knives and I am coming around to the idea that I should show them rather than hide them. The work they have done should be shown when I am able to do it in a manner worthy of the subject manner. I will try to do my best going forward.

With all that said, any of you guys got anything you wanna get rid of?
I am glad to have a chance to see and appreciate your collection. As someone with only two CPK pieces, it doesn’t make me jealous. I’m happy that people like you were supporting CPK before I discovered them. We are on this sub because we love CPK knives, so thanks for sharing pieces that I may have never had an opportunity to see and enjoy. I think your post was well said.

Well, thanks, now you owe me a pic, I wanna see both of yours now, dammit!

You attend Sunday school this morning or something? Where's the dick jokes?

Kidding aside, there's a lot to unpack there. I think a lot of people(myself included) get so wrapped up in the chase that the more important details of the where and who fall by the wayside.

If I ever have something you're after, shoot me a message. I'd be happy to laugh at you. 😉

Not the best spoon, but it made do when I forgot one on my last overnighter. I also made scales for the Kephart to give it some more thickness..it is, by far, my favorite bushcrafty type knife.

Huge shout out to madcap_magician madcap_magician for acting as a proxy in one of the sales many months ago for this knife. Thank you again!!!

The EDC1 dead center is a member of the “set” of knives scaled from the same block of verified Westinghouse micarta. It, along with the RLC I posted earlier, make up half of the set of four knives in that material. More on that set of four knives once I get the remaining two up.
