Photos! Post your CPK photos here!

Nothing wrong with wood, especially with how Nathan ensures it is as stable as it possibly can be. The traditionalist in me favors natural materials over synthetics but with that said, I know from experience that the chief attraction to wood for me is its aesthetics. I replaced the Ironwood on a couple of my CPKs because I wanted to be able to comfortably use them without the wood turning black. Ironwood, Cocobolo, Rosewood and a number of the darker, nicely figured woods will turn black with extensive use and exposure.

So no, you aren't wrong in that your knife will hold up just fine but its appearance will undoubtedly be altered.

That's pretty much what I figured. I buy extra scales for that reason. I got my Shiv with wood scales, and I also ordered a set of ebonite and ECAM scales.

I was trying to finalize my Shiv Pre-Order options today with Jo, so I had some of my CPK out of the safe... Thought I'd take a quick photo to share of my black handled knives.

The EDC1 with buffed black micarta on the far right is a daily (along with a black leather RLO side sheath) and has seen good use. The EDC2 with black G-10 located 3rd from right is a light use carry only (with an inside pocket black leather Jou Fuu sheath). The other knives are all in new/unused condition. There are two knives here in this grouping with buffed black micarta scales, three knives with black G-10 scales and the rest are all buffed black linen micarta scales. The EDC1 located 2nd from right is 4V, The HDFK is the last proto in PSF27/D2 and the rest of the knives are all Delta 3V. (Edit: Found my order notes on the DEK1- 3rd from left and the FK2- 4th from right and the scales are actually buffed double black.)

As a side note: I also like other handle scale options for CPK... 😉

*edit*
