Pick a metal and defend it!

I like SR-77, Regrind one of the Scrapper and woo baby you got a beast! But staying on topic i like S-7 because it really takes an edge well, and holds it. This might be controversial but i think its stainless, which i love

Sandvik 13C26 stainless-steel is my favorite for all around. takes a razor edge and sharpens back up with only a few swipes of the sharpening steel

I really like Victorinox's steel. Sharpens easily, very rust resistant, maintains an edge reasonably well (good geometry helps), inexpensive.
I like balance in my steel. I'm not good with sharpening, so I need something soft enough to be forgiving, but hard enough to keep an edge for a little while. I'm also a bit lazy, so rust resistance is a plus.

But I hear that the 13C26 is very simmilar to the Vic steel, and a step up in edge retention...can't wait to try it.

from one guy who sucks at sharpening to another, 13c26 is a great steel for us. it truely is easy to sharpen. you wont be disapointed

LOL! Thanks for the info.

I can tell ya, if it weren't for the Sharpmaker, I would have some pretty dull knives...:D

I can't pick just one.

INFI or S7 for my big knives.

VG10 for my EDC.

x15tn for my wet knives. I'm waiting on some H1 to compare to the French steel though.

V10 for a lot of years.
The last couple of years I have been hooked on Fallkniven`s 3G powder steel, after I tried the U2.
I have never known a knife to keep it`s edge like that knife.
It is still going strong, after pretty hard use, since I bought it.
Only the "lightest" touch-up and still as fine as new.

Cool. Another "super metal" freak. I can't wait to take my NL3 out hunting. The TK1 is another story. It's almost too pretty to be used. But, it's G3 steel and can't help but think that it's a real hunter, too.

my favorite steel is D2, i like it because I personally prefer a 60 or higher RC edge...other steels such as 154cm has 1.05 c and 13-14 chromium, and S30V has 1.45 carbon and still has 13-14 chromium, but D2 has 1.50 carbon and only 12% chromium...i like the balance it has, and the vanadium...that's just me

I like O1 a lot, I like the way it feels and cuts. I also like high quality 440C for stainless (holds an edge good enough) but I have to say for a true stainless H1 is hard to beat.

best steel cpm 125v.but rare.:o:(if any at all.:barf::mad::o

Or how about the CPM S150V that was originally on the slated for production?
Right now it looks like CPM S110V will have to do (hurry up Kershaw). If only MPL1 were available in bar-stock.

ALUMINUM...It makes great hats and underwear to protect you from the electromagnetic radiation and eavesdropping waves emitted from CIA black helicopters that circle your house. :D

Not "super metal" freak but I am a bit lazy, why spend time sharpening when you have the blade steel that can take the most aggressive cutting without harming the edge?
Do take your TK1 on your next trip hunting, knives are meant to be USED!
Nevermind the "pretty" looks it would become (I reckon) your best knife in your arsenal.
Take care.
