It will definately be more of a woods knife than a fighter. I've seen great reviews and demos from the BK2 on the web. I just havn't handled one personally. I love the feel of the USMC, I guess I was just wondering what the BK2 can do that the Ka-bar cannot. Thanks for the replies!
If you're wanting a woods blade, then the BK2 it is. The USMC is legendary, belongs in everyone's collection, and will still serve you well, but it just can't compete with that thick, beautiful slab of 1095CV.
BTW, just to muddy the waters..................the BK7 was designed as a replacement for the USMC, with more emphasis on all-around utility, rather than being a lightweight fighter. I'm only missing three BKs in the entire lineup (not counting a couple of the handle/finish variations), and the BK7 is probably my favorite of the bunch. It is just SO COOL it's hard to explain. I've sat for hours holding one while watching TV, or had one sitting on my desk at work while writing reports. It's just a brilliant design. But all the other BK's are great in their own way also, and the BK2 is one of those knives you HAVE to own. You may not like it long term, or you may fall into a deep loving respect for it...................only time and miles will tell. So the sooner you wrap your hands around one and start cutting, but sooner you'll know.

Edited to add: I just noticed that this thread was started 3yrs ago. Oh well, there's probably a lurker out there trying to make the same decision.
