Only if your hands get wet or sweaty which will cause you to grasp the knife harder to maintain a grip on it. The 0801 is a nice knife but using it when things get wet will become more challenging.

I feel that I would not be using it in an environment where my hands would be wet with any regularity, mainly at work opening boxes and bags or at home. I'm not a hunter or fisherman so no blood or guts to wipe off my knives. When I finally have saved up enough, I will have to decide between the 0560 and 0801, which should be fun.

A comparison shot of the two. Only you know what's right for you. Just throwing out there what I feel is the only con for the 0801. Either would be a great choice.

 
How do they compare in terms of weight? They aren't that far off in weight but does the 0801 feel much lighter than the 0560 or is it not even noticeable?
 
the weight difference to me is not that noticeable - but the G-10 and titanium pattern on the 0560 just seems a bit more secure in my hand... (large hand)
 
The 0801 is noticeably heavier than the 0560. After being used to the 0801, the 0560 feels kind of hollow.
 
I just got my first Zt knife, 0550, a few weeks ago. While it is not the only zt I have handled, it is the only one I have real experience with. I can say that it is a great, well made knife that meets all of your criteria. I have been carrying mine constantly since I got it, and it is definitely now one of my all time favorites. YMMV.
 
My personal choice for a ZT would be the 550. If possible try to track down the 551 so you get the Elmax blade.

I think it's mostly perception perhaps based on overall lengths and balance. Both weigh 5.8 ounces but the 0560 is a bit longer.

The 0801 is now my favorite ZT after pushing the venerable 0550 into second place.
 
After carrying my Cryo and Scallion today, I think I know why I was leaning towards a manual open rather than an assisted opener: the Speedsafe knives I own are somewhat difficult for me to close one handed, so it seems to reason that a bigger blade will be too. Maybe I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me.
 
I use my thigh to close folders most of the time, so assisted or manual doesn't make much difference.
 
Those are some dexterous thighs. Did it take a lot of practice to disengage locks with your legs? :)

Maybe "I close my knives against my thigh" would be better? Hell, I don't know :p
