Picking the Perfect EDC Fixed Blade

If I was looking for a "Perfect" EDC I'd go custom from one of the BF makers. I think that would be pretty kick ass.

Spyderco perrin street beat is a nice FB. Or Fallkniven F1. I carry a Shivworks Clinch Pick or a Disciple but they are Specialized tools with the edge on top of the blade.

Don't know about perfect, yet, but I just ordered the Civivi Tamashii with green micarta handles. It won't replace the Sendero Classic as my EDC, but I'll probably carry it for awhile before I decide whether or not to permanently lash it to the kydex of the Kailash Blades Kailash Blades Regent Bowie, also on order.....

I should have thought of it earlier but the Buck 102, it has a 4 inch blade though.

Horsewright Horsewright has some great 3" fixed blades, so many great designs & look extremely dialed in for any task with great sheath options
(he might be in the higher range, but if doing 200 ynot 3? ; )
but he's not the only maker to see, check out others in the forums

anyway, just making the point that many makers will have small 3" fixed ... so many designs
personally, I keep leaning towards the ultra simple puuko styles, but yeah, a puuko with a wharn like shown earlier is really useful also (& always a sucker for ultra simple lines)

its a fun look thru all the makers sections

If I were you I wouldn’t spend $200 out of the gate. I would wait until you decide what style fits your needs and likes first. But everyone looks at things a little differently. The Izula and Izula 2 are great and much better than their small size would have you think. Also, I saw the BK11 was mentioned, and I second that, it’s a great knife. Or you could get the BK14 that’s a little Becker and a little ESEE rolled into one. LT Wright’s and/or Battle Horse Knives are awesome quality and good bang for your buck. I have the Frontier First in 3v from LT and I love it. Buck has lots of different fixed blades, some are extremely cheap in the $25-30 range and work well. Lots of options.

Here are some of my knives, just for reference on some of the models I mentioned. Good luck and enjoy the process!

1- Buck 684 & 140
2- ESEE Candiru & BK&T BK11
3- LT Wright Frontier First & ESEE Candiru
4- BK&T BK14 with a SAK Recruit
5- ESEE Izula with a SAK Recruit

Nobody has anything to say about Randal Made Knives?

The Bird and Trout looks like it would fit the bill.

I am sure it is great but out of his price range. Right now GL Drew has a cool wharncliff style blade on the exchange for a great price, he has some really good knives at very good prices, really like mine from him, beautiful handles too. And redsquid2 also has a some up for sale, his are great users with some minor cosmetic characteristics, but good solid users.

+1 also for Horsewright knives, maybe a little over your budget, but solid working and beautiful lines on proven users on his ranch and other fellow cowpokes.:) I finally snagged a Sonoran belt knife in rams horn and have not used it yet because it is too pretty.

My rotation:

Condor Mini Bushlore, Bark River PSK, ULB x2, Fallkniven WM1, Marttiini Kateva (my first fixed blade).

Sorry; I had forgotten that there was a price range rom the OP.

I want a CRK folder, but just can't justify the $400-$500. I'd probably lose it within a year anyway.

Thanks guys for the shout out! 2-3" blades is about 90 percent of what I do. I work in two main steels AEB-L (62to 63RC) and 26C3 (63-64RC).
