Thanks again guys!
BIGBEAR - sadly I didn't reach the Gevont's peak. After climbing more than 1/3of the way, we found out the path was closed.
There was another path which was opened, but It was our last day in Zakopane so we had to give it up due to lack of time. But next time we'll hike up Gevont for sure!
45stops-em-quick -as to hunting - I think a special permit is needed to hunt in Poland and you have to be a member of hunter's community and that means passing some egzams in hunter's law etc.
As to gun law - it's very strict in Poland. To legally own any gun You have to obtain a special permit. To get the permit a person must never be convicted, pass psychological tests and a shooting egzam, but the most important thing is to prove to the Police who decides if one can get a gun or not, tha you really need a gun. Basicly you have to be in some state of danger to get it - because of your job, place of living etc.
The knives law is on the other hand very liberal. You can own and carry any fixed blade knife, folder, automatic folder, even a sword as long as it's not a blade hidden in an object that doesn't resemble a knife (a wooden stick for example). Of course if you start wandering through any city with a japanesse sword strapped to the belt, you can be pretty sure the police will stop you and ask what you're doing, but as long as you're not creating any danger to people around you and yourself, you can carry almost anything.
Interesting thing is that in Poland a baseball bat which is not an original baseball bat only resembles one is cosidered a weapon, and carring such thing is prohibited.
Of course an original baseball bat can be carried without any problems. Go figure?
