pics from this weekends, traditional archery shoot..

That is awesome!
I got out and shot a little bit this weekend, but more modern equipment.
Practicing for turkey season, but too poor for 3D target.

Mine in Orange, Dads in Green. Yes, he was aiming for the head.

I really admire your pictures and the work of all traditionalist.
I am not artistic enough to try creating my own from scratch in that manner.
it is real artistry.

great shooting there shaman.... those carbon arrows fly pretty darn fast and straight...

I love seeing your pics Mike, I would have loved to go to something like that even though I don't shoot.
You have just made me add 2 more things to my " To do " list....Archery and Flint Knapping !!!!

here's a few more pics.. i got these ones from my father in law...

this was a cool shot, at a big foam cobra.... a major arrow buster... i hit it once, out of 2 arrows...

here's another arrow buster.... this is one of my favorite shots... the body of this turkey is constructed out of steel and the "texas heart shot"(butt) is the only foam part... it was worth a total of 40 points if you hit it with both arrows... i was the only person in my group to hit it twice and not break any arrows... that brought my score up quite a bit... check out the sea of broken arrows...:D

great shooting there shaman....

Not the same as without the sights. I used to shoot instinct and will get back to it someday. Right now I just don't have enough time to give to it to shoot as accurately as I want to hunt. Not that shooting a compound is a cop-out, just easier.

I love your picture series, always.
You live a charmed life, makes me reflect on my own a bit.

many thanks my friend... as long as your shooting a bow and having fun, that's all that matters....

i have never owned a compound before, but man are those things accurate.. i have always been infatuated with longbows and the historical aspect of the bow... as well as the simplicity of the longbow... a bow a string and an arrow, it doesn't get much more basic.... i make all of my own gear/tackle, with the exception of my bows..

Great pics.Looks like an awesome shoot. Lots of great people show up to those trad shoots.

WOW..that looks like it was a really fun weekend! thanks, Gene
