Here's my modded ZT 0500. Stripped the finish of the handle slabs, wet sanded the thumb stud, pivot bolts and clip. Drilled the clip to sit lower down in the handle recess---makes the clip more stable and slowly, carefully ground a choil to allow for a choke up grip for finesse work :)

Very impressive. What series of grit did you use for wet sanding? Were these done by hand sanding? I have been trying to start with some simple things for a couple of my own blades such as replacing the pivot screw and scale screws with bright stainless or even colored versions of these screws but have not found a vendor who carries such things.

Hand sanding a blade it a lot of work but worth it.
Bruce's tutorials are a great resource.

There was a thread on Bagwell's mods for the w49, but I can't find it... my search-fu is weak.

Keep at it, that'll be a looker with some good work.
Just be careful cuz that sharp edge is always there to bite you.

Do you have a link for the hand sanding tutorials?

Thank You, yes, I did these myself. The reason I use them is because I can buy them at Walmart for $28 and some change. That way I don't have much into them, I have only sold one and I give the rest to freinds and such.

Thanks for the compliment---soaked handles in easy off oven cleaner:o The finish came off very easy, then use chrome polish to make them pop. Then I hand sanded using 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper on the pivot, thumbstud and clip then stepped up to 1000 then 1500 grit:D

Thanks very much for the info. Never would have thought of using the oven cleaner. For Chrome polish are we talking about Flitz or similar paste polish?

Flitz or Simichrome work fine. If memory serves it was Simichrome:o

Awesome work buddy!!! I love it! I have 2 Ranger RD6's that are striped down and polished. I keep rem oil on them and they do fine. I really like this my friend!! Did you do a thread on this mod?

Just modded my ESEE Junglas. I etched the blade, stripped the coating, gave it some jimpping on the spine, rounded the spine, filework on the tang, ground out a choil, gunblue patina, gave the handle scales some shaping and texture, and dyed the scales. :)

It's not much but I just finished this up.
My Becker/Esse Necker & sheath.
I stripped the blade, sanded all the tool marks out of it & blued it.
The sheath didn't come with any kind of belt loop so I made one out of 1/8" ABS plastic, Chicago screw posts, stainless screws and aluminum spacers.
I also added 2 eyelets to the sheath & adjusted the fit of the sheath so the knife doesn't rattle anymore.
