Pics of customized production knives

Not bad! :)

The only reason why I'm leaving the clip alone is because it looks so much like the ones on his custom stuff. I would like to etch mine though!

As for stonewashing... well, I'll be shaking the tub myself from now on. The last one broke apart in the dryer full of clothes... you do NOT want to know how my wife took it! Approx 1,000,000 rocks + a bunch of wd40 mixed with the wife's finest? Not good... :(

Fortunately it's my dryer, so my wife can't say much :p. I did tape the crap out of the container, wrapped it tight in an old towel, taped the crap out of the towel, and put a couple other old towels in to cushion everything. Did it dry instead of with WD40 or something, seemed to be fine that way.

That clip looks great! Nice work for a first try or any try for that matter. I just purchased a Southard and before it even arrived I got a clip from STR because the stock clip looks so ugly to me.

Yeah, the clip was ugly, sharp, and just really needed some work.

Here's a pic of Brad's custom work.

I will probably etch mine, but I like that it (closely) matches his work.

Uh yeah... I'm tempted to send him my Spyderco in a box with a bunch of money and tell him to do as he sees fit. ;)

To be honest the biggest visual appeal of the real thing over the Spyderco is the lack of the giant hole in the blade. And yes, I know the Spyderhole is their "thing", but still it's ugly as hell and almost ruins the lines of a gorgeous design.

That's where you and I differ in opinion.

And many more...

Edit- and let's not forget the original

I'd say it's just as much BRAD'S thing. ;) and Spyderco did a pretty good job of nailing it!

Got my 'Zaan blade back from Bos heat treating, and decided to mess around with some different finishes. First try was a quick acid dip and some scotchbrite, came out ok, but not great. Think I'll give it another acid dip and try stonewashing the blade once I find a bigger jar.

I think it looks pretty good. I've tried both combos (acid and scotch, acid and sw) and I really think the latter looks better. The good thing about the etchant is that it will remove the scratches easily with no other work needed. Bravo to you btw for having the balls to try it on a high end knife.

This is the fourth finish I've put on the blade tonight, and I definitely like it the best. Heavy acid, moderate stonewash, first time stonewashing a blade (all I've SW'd befre is a pocket clip). Assuming I still like it in the morning, I'll put a nice edge on it.

Oh yeah! That's the cats meow right there. I love a good stonewash, but I hate how dull it makes the knife! Full reprofile anyone?

Good times.
