Just curious...how would you go about changing the color of the titanium scales on the Spyderco Southard above? Just heat??

Some coloring could be done by heat, but these ones, being that they are so consistent are anodized. Which is passing electrical currents through the piece while submerged in a solution to change the color of the metal.

I've loved knives my whole life, but I just discovered this thread. I will be combining this for the net few days, but do you have any recommendations for someone to customize?

keyman he did my 275 and it turned out incredible

Decided to use Birchwood-Casey cold bluing solution on my Spyderco Gayle Bradley blade. It's CPM-M4 steel, high-carbon, non-stainless.

Atony that's a cool idea black looks much better imo than the stock brown. I never thought of using RIT dye. Since the scale on the Southard is that brown color is black the only option for the dye? or do you think blue RIT dye would take?

I have seen a deep burgandy, and a really deep blue almost like a royal blue.

I anodized them with a power supply. I plan to do some more Southard's this weekend with lightning strike carbon fiber and bronze anodizing.
