Benchmade 520 and 525 in cocobolo and carbon fiber with a little reshaping on the handles.

Of all the Axis jobs I've seen, yours are a cut above. Very nice work.

Okay first let me say that I am a rank-amateur but a couple of minor things bugged me about what is in essence a terrific little folder - my Spydie Techno.

So, I slimmed the 'hump' behind the Spydie Hole and refined her 'nose' profile a little and added a tan backspacer because the blue lego stuck out a bit too much for me. The tan matches my workwear and makes the knife much more subtle IMHO.

Sorry for the slightly out of focus second shot but you get the idea of the refined blade shape.

I appreciate other Techno owners may hate my adjustments but they suit me & make this terrific little blade a bit more personal to me...

Cheers,

Ben

That's a sweet lookin' Skyline. The checkered scales are great. It looks like an entirely Different knife!

Excellent choice in walnut. It shouldn't show scratches and marks like a softer wood would.

Glad you like it - Tan G10 cleans up nice and is more subtle than the standard blue lego...

I can highly recommend the knife.

Cheers!

Ben

Yeah that looks much better. I like the hump on the blade gone as well. Great looking tan G10 and goldish paracord.

What is the weird looking paint on the blade where the logo and text are? Also, are the screw showing on the back side supposed to look like they have rust around them?

the “paint" was put over the logos to protect them while doing the acid stonewash. When you treat the blade like the one shown, the acid can eat away at the steel and mess up the logo. I think the end result looks tacky though. I would rather just acid wash the entire blade for a more uniform look.

Thats just me though.

The color is the reflection from my T-Shirt (Yellow).
I used fingernail polish on the text to stop the acid from removing it, then let the stone wash knock it off.
And no, I don't think it's "tacky", at all. I prefer to keep the Spyderco logos, and wanted to give the whole thing a "cobbled together with what you can find" Post Apocalypse look.
The "rust" is the final acid wash on the screw heads as some were newer, and some had been scuffed from the constant dis-assembly.
The picture was before the final hot bath, blow out, and oiling.

I carry one of these several days a week, the other is sitting in it's original box.

These are customized spydyerco's
The gayle bradley, I got rid of the rounded tip portion for a more acute point. The caly 3.5 has been re-ground to 0.003 inches behind the edge for extreme slicing and cutting ability. Here are a few images.
