Pictures from IGs hammerin

Well, I certainly don't miss Mass. weather. But IG's hammer-ins are very cool, and his cooking is even better.

Best from Korea,

John

I finally got rid of Dewey this morning. He said he had a great time playing with all my toys. HEHEHEHEHE!!!!
I am looking forward to his next visit.

The first five times I got locked out, I thought it was an accident. But when you threw my coffee cup out in the road I thought "What's he got against coffee??" That's when I decided to only stay TWO more days!!! I love that anvil but it's tough to sleep on!!!

George, my friend, you're one of a kind!! [Thank God!;)] The only way It could have been any better is if you felt better and 'played' a little more. 867 miles, $160 for gas, and worth every cent & every mile! I'm not always a 'happy traveler' but thru the rain & traffic, I smiled all the way home!!

I have to thank my honey for the encouragement to go. She made plans to stay with her doughter so I would'nt have to worry. Then, the week before, I wrenched my back and spent a couple days all twisted up. Was'nt sure I could do 8 hours in the truck. I sure am glad I gave it a shot!! It took me a while Saturday morning to get the kinks out but I survived!:D

Toeburner, great tour Sunday morning. Thank you for taking the time to run me around the city to see stuff that you see every day. I enjoyed the ride and our chance to chat a bit. Best of luck with your future plans and I hope to see you again! Had a great chat w/ your dad Saturday, also, say 'hi' for me.

Aaldooooo..... Well, what can I say??? Another one of a kind!!:D Always a pleasure! We'll do business for years to come and I'm sure we'll meet again. I'm keeping track of what you owe me!;):D

Larry, good to see ya again. We talked about quenching blade tips to avoid overheating while forging. I found out the hard way to be sure to use oil, water is a little 'harsh' on 1084. In between squishing damascus,I forged a clip point hunter in the 'welding forge' and when I cleaned it up, I could see a series of barely visable stress cracks at the tip. I'm sure it was from hitting the water to keep the tip cool. Lots of steel left so I'll trim 1/4" off the tip and re-forge the point! Anyhow, I look forward to our next meeting.

Bill, are your lights on?? The bill for roadside service is in the mail!:D Thanks for the tips on filework. You make it look soooo easy, can't wait to try some of your methods.

I carried home a blower for my forge,a little piece of wrought iron,a piece of cable, some paracord that I won as a door prize, swapped some handle materials w/ IG and made the biggest damascus billet that Georges press has ever 'chewed on'.[9 layers of Aldo's 1095 & 15n20,cut & stacked to 324 layer]. The most valuable thing was the experience of a couple days hanging out with a lot of great folks and forging some long term friendships.

THANK YOU, George, for allowing me into your home for an unlimmited and unrestricted visit and the keys to your toybox. If I did'nt wear out my welcome, I hope to see ya again before you head west.

Thanks to everyone involved for making this a very memorable trip!!

Dewey, no problem Bubba.:jerkit::D I wish Elaine was able to travel:(, because all of you (the dog too) could stay on my second floor:thumbup: for a week or so. HEHEHEHEHE!! I even got Dewey to eat snails.
PS: They are moving out as I speak.:thumbup:

Justin, great pics...thanks for sharing
You could have omitted one of them.

Dewey, great meeting you. It was my pleasure to give you the dime tour. If I ever get up massena way again I'll have to look u up.

Big thanks to George for putting that little shin-dig together for us, and to everyone else for being such friendly, helpful folks.

Thanks again
Nathan

Hey!!! Did Elaine try the Portagee buns?????

Hey Bill, I was at work when I was typing up my thank you email, and had to end off quick before I could properly say thanks for your demo and all the pointers. Your instruction was point on (punn intended), unfortunately in the fog of battle (or beer), I seem to have placed that demo blade down somewhere. Hopefully It's still at Georges. Thanks again, I'll send pics when I finish.
