Pictures of hard to find 122/124

Thanks Richard although it was less like "Joe doing some hard work" and more like "Joe getting off his butt, finding the picture, and posting it already!" :D
Nice pics as usual E3. From those pictures it does not look like they actually used a geronimo dagger guard as it is too small. I dont recall that guard on any other model so maybe they made it from bar stock. Cool!

Thanks for the pics,I never had any interest in the 124 before........until now .lol I think i need one of these knives for big camp chores.lol

Some of you guys have some excellent looking 124's.

Is there any way of dating a 124 and finding out what the blade steel is? I have one from the early to mid '80's, it says: BUCK 124 U.S.A. (on 3 separate lines), no other date code marks, at least none that I see.

well... VERY good!

Ok Dave, now thats just someone with way too much time on their hands playing around in the shop!

Doc, did you ever get an answer on the blade steel for your 124? It could be 440c or 425 mod. The handle material might give clues to vintage which might help determine steel type. You can post pics here or send me an email and we will see what we can do.

It's been slow in the 300 world so I just had to get involved somewhere.
:eek:300$s

My only 124.

Hey Joe, thanks for asking. No, I didn't get an answer yet. It's not really all that important - just curious is all. Here are a couple of pictures. Sorry about the quality, I still haven't figured out how to take half decent pictures, indoors.

It was purchased in the early 1980's if that helps.

not bad picts... you will get better ... looks ike one i have.. mine was new in 71 when i bought it and i have info it was not new when i got it...
yours could be 440c that sat around for years tell you got it...
or could be a 425 that jest come in...
if you see any surfice inperfections at all fig 425 as some times it had some imperfections from contamanates in the steel... i have a MP 110 blade with it comeing out throught the polish..jmho..

Those are great pictures! Worth a thousand words. ;)
Looks like the knife is from about 1973-1982. Not much, if anything changed on them during that time frame so unless you have the paperwork that came with it, its just about impossible to nail it down any closer.
I hope this helps.

Dave, your absolutely right about the origin of that red handled 124/184. The idea was born out of the week we all "discussed" the custom shop...should give you an idea of where my head was at then.

Hey 300! I'm stealing that picture if its ok with you? Cracked me up! :D
