Survival Story??. Kindly tell me where to locate that thread or post, please?.

Those little Mora knives are pretty cool. The wood handled one, the second from the top, right side, has a laminated blade. The little sucker is pretty sharp! udtjim brought it along to show me. Too bad he forgot that sweet little custom knife he just had made.:jerkit::D

One of my Mora's is a Kelam. I don't know how to find the survival story. I posted it here and on the General forums a couple months back.

For the life of me I don't see the appeal of these Mora knives, the look like toys! Someone care to fill me in?

Whats their strengths and weaknesses (aside from looks)...?

For the price they're great, like the Opinels and Vics and they do well for general use. That's just it. Good knife for the price. I field tested a few under hard use just out of curiosity and they won't last an hour. They are good to back up your heavy duty knife. I use them in the kitchen as well and carry one at work. Moras hold a great edge and are made with good steal too. They're ugly as sin, but useful. Also they're easy to replace without costing you an arm and a leg. Just a basic knife, nothing fancy.

cgusek111 - thanks for the straight forward reply. I wasn't aware these were budget knives.

When I first saw them I thought they looked like something you'd find in a garden shed. I guess that's not too far off.

People seem to like collecting them tho -so more power too them.

Here are mine. I've got another clipper coming in and a destroyed a couple just to see how much they could take.

Hey Grimspoon,
If you do a search for MORA, you'll come up with so many threads you won;t have time to read them all. I wondered the same thing when I first saw the praise they were getting. Guys who collect Busses and Sebenzas are still buying these knives. They are treated like icons in any survival forum.

So....I just had to see what the fuss was about. I ordered three: two 760's and a 780 Triflex Craftsman (the 780 is the bottom knife with black handle seen in CGUSEK111's picture right above this post). Each are only $10 or $11 a pop. I'm impressed with the handle shape, the Scandi grind, the blade sharpness, and the utility of them. I already want some more!!!! A 510 for starters and maybe I'll go all out and get a 2000!

They're cheap enough to throw one in every BOB, glove box, pickup truck door pocket, and toolbox.

Check out these Frosts of Sweden Moras:

Best of all, no matter how many you order, Ragnar only charges $6 to ship.

Ah, I wanted to do a search but seach is disabled for basic members.

I guess unless I try one out for myself I won't really get it. The blades themselves look alright - it's the handles that bother me the most.

Guess you can't judge a book by its cover (or handle?)...

Well, for fixed blades, I prefer Benchmades, Bark Rivers, Busses, Bucks, Rangers, and the like. But these Moras are just too cheap and useful to leave alone!

Order a Clipper and your hand will say otherwise. It looks odd, but is WONDERFUL in hand. It really feels more like an extension of my hand than any knife I own. The sheaths are the only real shortcoming, but Normark here on the board makes some sweet kydex rigs. I just got a orange/orange 760 for Christmas, my 3rd Mora and LOVE it. $10 knives that have the form defined by the function, which is refreshing these days. They aren't prybars, but light to medium batoning on occasion is no problem, and they hold an edge just fine too. They aren't made of kryptonite, or anything miraculous, but rather just more like $50 worth of knife for $10.

Buy one and give it a spin. If you hate it, mail it to me and I'll throw it away for you.;)

Is the top knife is a #440; The Sports Knife?
What is the purpose of the design - it looks like the blade is intentionally made thicker behind the tip.

You can do a search through google just type in mora and then bladeforums. It should bring up alot of threads for it.

It's a Mora 2000. I don't know the creators initial purpose of the blade design. It's Mora's "survival knife."
