Another knife I ended up with in this lot, and this was one I recognized immediately, was the Black Sable. Possibly the most beautiful knife Cold Steel produced! It’s never been on my “must purchase” list, mostly due to cost and impracticality of EDC’ing such a blade. It’s almost a sin to open a bag of candy with such an exquisite chunk of micarta, Ti and San Mai VG1. It’s a very large knife, as well. It would do extremely well in a self defense situation. It feels like part of your hand and the blade instills a lot of confidence!!
Unfortunately, the auction company didn’t see fit to ship it in the accompanying metal box, so the Ti bolsters have some scratches. That really sucks for an unused collectors item. At least the blade appears relatively unscathed.
It’s hard to get a pic to show the amazing San Mai. It is amazing. I’ve not seen anything like it on a knife before. The Taiwan Tanto SM doesn’t come anywhere close. Please excuse the smears on the blade. Whatever CS put on it doesn’t want to wipe off without some work or polish.
