Pictures you took while you should have been working

Yes sir some skill in planning it out, esp when a whole crew on the job all working different rooms that in the end get joined. I started out doing schools where we had big long wings and we were all scattered about. I hate MC (or BX for the old timers). I just think it looks bad and poorly planned in any new construction. I do understand it's usefulness in remodels when it's all you can get down a wall. Right before I had to quit doing electrical work I think somebody's pockets were getting lined because it seemed like every job we got MC was in the specs.
Yea I definitely understand the usefulness and convenance of it. Remodel for sure, daisy chaining fixtures, etc. It’s not a bad thing but it does look bad. Have to spend a lot of time on it to make it look like something.
You used to see it scattered about jobs mixed in with conduit. Now I’m starting to see entire new projects done with it, homeruns and all.

For this weeks edition of weird lock Wednesday, I present a REKAT Rolling Lock in the form of a Sifu:cool:...and whatever the heck they call that thing the Paragon Phoenix does:confused:;)

Interesting! I'm curious, what's that structure in the background?

Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), basically a boiler on the exhaust of a natural gas fired turbine/generator set. Uses the waste heat to make steam which goes to a steam turbine/generator set and our steam customer. What's known as a combined cycle and co-generation setup in the power industry:)

I was about to say, that kind of engineering looks familiar! We use combined cycle steam generation with natural gas over here as well.

Speaking of, it's my Mini Bugout's first day at the power plant! 20200701_053858~2_resize_41.jpg

Nice! What kind of generation are you in? I started in biomass out of school, natural gas turbines for a bit, then climbed wind turbines for about seven years and now I'm back in a control room here:)

I'm just a student intern here lol. I push papers for the engineers.

We used coal for longest time, but shut that down in the past few years in favor of producing steam via natural gas. (that big A-shaped structure in the left of my photo is actually the coal house. There's still dozens of tons of it sitting in there) We're looking to transition most of our generation to wind and solar in the future. We just recently got natural gas RICE (reciprocating internal combustion) generators up and running so those can accompany the future renewable energy sources.

Right on, power generation is a great field to be in...excellent job security as people really like it when the lights come on when they flick the switch;) Our son is also an infrastructure intern, but he went towards clean water...he's currently interning at the local wastewater treatment plant:)

That's pretty awesome my guy!
