pig sticker choice

honestly, if would be looking into some big as bowie if i were you. possibly a bk-9, but personally i would want something more....stab-able i guess. kinda like cold steel laredo bowie, but american made.of course we all know the junglas can cut up a big easily. or if your a real man, use a bk-11 =)

honestly, i'd want five BK9HHs, 4 with handles removed, and those things attached to long poles, with cross guards :) the fifth one for up close and personal (or just in case)...

and a ladder :) you want a tree behind you ;)

Wild boar with a knife eh ? Hmmmmmmm

First: Do you have a will ? Some life insurance ?

Second: you must be a Defensive Tackle in the NFL ... right ? 300 pounder that bench presses small pick up trucks ?

5th degree black belt ?

A very large sword and a gun.

Good luck.

i came on here to ask a question. thought maybe some of you hunted, or liked adventure. maybe i was wrong. i know even in the us they have hunting guides where they hunt wild hog with dogs and knives.

maybe people over in the other forums are more adventurous. i own a becker and would love to own more. though i do have to admit your specific comments do make you sound ...

:jerkit:

Yes, the more adventurous are in the "I have a death wish" forum.

Make me sound ... ?

You read a Hemmingway book and you're going wild boar
hunting in Guam with a knife ... Oooooh Kay. Toooo Fuuuny.

No worries. Have a good time. Send pics :D

you are a real friendly fella aren't ya? so the people that hunt black bear also have a death wish? or go mountain lion hunting as well?

I never said that. We're talking hunting with a knife. You bring up Bears and Mountian lions ???

Anyway, I'm done.

but your attitude shows it.

i only mean hunting hog with a knife. but also hunting bear and mountain lions with a firearm is also dangerous. hunting any kind of animal with any kind of tool is dangerous regardless of the tool chosen for the task.

so the fact that i'd like to experience something like this offends and bothers you. makes you want to make a rude post and comments towards me.

good i'm glad your done.

i have some freinds that are moving back to guam in a year and we plan on visiting them. well i want to go on a wild hog hung and get one with a knife. what would your choice be?

If you find the BK9 or BK5 too short, you might consider something with more reach, like this Condor Hog Sticker Machete.

They hunt hogs and black bear around here with knives. Sometimes spears, mostly rifles though.

There is nothing wrong with hunting with a knife, and done in the right manner, isn't too dangerous.

Most of the times, the pin it down with dogs, and you have to rush in for a quick stab for the kill. This is usually after the dogs ran the boar for a while to tucker it out.

There have been many times, folks get injured, and honestly, they injure themselves with the bigass knife they took to kill the hog with.

I enjoy hunting, and I hope to one day make a boar hunting trip with a knife group. One of the largest around this area is the TBBA, Tennessee Boar and Bear Association, they do knife hunts, pretty close to Ethan's place.

Its quite common in Alabama too.

Be respectful guys, just because some don't think its a viable options, others consider it above all else.

The 5 seems like a good choice. Maybe you could even clip the point a bit for better penetration. I've never hunted them, but I've come across them several times in the outdoors, usually in groups of 20, close enough to hug, but that was mostly luck cause they have horrible eyesight. Good luck on your trip, definitely sounds like an adventure. Get some pics up too. Happy hunting!

The company I work for has a ranch in S. Texas. We take customers down to hunt hogs with a guide. They have the choice, once the hog is run to ground, to go in with the guide to stab them. The guides all have a knife that has about a 12" blade that is fairly thin, but strong and once they stab them behind the shoulder blade, it is all over. Talk about a rush.

once it happens if it does. its a year away that we plan on going to guam. i have never hunted before . only thing i hunted was frogs with bb guns when i was a little kid.

i would go with someone that is experienced in doing this sorta thing. i know some guys here that want to take me out bird and coyote hunting here in arizona.

and i would of course take pictures.

hopefully we can make it to guam. i also plan on going spear fishing and i've got a huge fear of the open water, seen too many jaws movies. but i figure if i'm going to go to another country, i want to experience of of that countrys culture and adventure if i can. plus i bet it would be some great experiences.

i wanted to ask some of you on these boards some questions about hunting, or knives or anything outdoor related since i figured you'd have loads of experience. not trying to start anyting up or stir anything but i also don't want to be pushed around either.

by the way anyone on this board also live in arizona?

My bad - I read it, hit me weird and I gave 'em the biz. (my usual bustin')

Serious - no worries. But, it ain't for me that's for sure. I saw a wild boar
make a Lion back down the other night on the nature channel, suckers are tough - big ass tusks too. Unless I was starving, there's lots of other things I be doing :D

But have at it there "young fella" (as Dieon Sanders would say)
