I remember a while back someone posted a pic of his pimped 0551 that just blew me away. The ti side is heat colored to a gorgeous hue.

If I'm not mistaken that particular knife was once up for sale in the sales section of BF and I will forever regret not being the one that bought it.

Does anybody else remember that knife? Anybody know who did the work?

Originally I didn't want to modify mine at all since it was a sprint run limited to only 1000 pieces; I thought about waiting for the 0550 to be released and having the work done on it; but as much as I love this knife and since I carry it all the time anyway, I'm saying the hell with it.

I'll never sell it anyway so who cares? Still, I know it's silly but it kind of bothers me a bit to do it. What do you guys think? A part of me says leave it as is. . . .
 
I say pimp away! I pimped mine... alright it was only a 2 screw mod with installing a Hawk "grip clip"...

But hey, it's your knife, do whautever makes you happy!
 
I say leave it and do the upper handle out of some other material. At least it would not effect the warranty. Then again it might make it easier to sell, who knows.
Whatever MAKES YOU HAPPY. Ive done some WEIRD things to knives B4!

The warranty issue is a consideration but I'm not worried about selling it. I'll take this knife with me when I go! :D
 
It may have been trix2004 ;) He does awesome work and tends to pimp out some nice production knives then sells them sometimes :)

I googled it a couple weeks ago and it doesn't appear to be very easy and takes a lot of heat from what I read . . .

I'm into four of these now that I just snagged another in a trade. I may do the same. It would be nice to have an assortment ready for the pocket any time :D

Four?!? Wow!! And I thought I liked these? :D

I've considered trying it myself with a blow torch but I would either melt the scale or burn the house down or - most probably - both. . .:rolleyes: :D
 
One of mine is being shipped off to BarryH for a carbon fiber scale this week. I'm not a big fan of the factory G10 texture on these knives.
 
I doubt I'll keep all four. They do make very desirable trade stock if I see a trade I'm interested in. You tend to see them on a lot of wish lists for trades ;)

I will certainly keep two - the 4th one is not here yet - it's coming from Cam at BHQ and it's been confirmed I'm getting one from their allotment and it was paid for months ago so I won't back out.

If you'll like it better, who cares what others think, especially if you're not going to sell it.
