Thanks Charlie but I've already worked out a deal with Trix. I've seen your videos and enjoyed them thoroughly though. . .

Thanks for your support!

I was plotting this myself, but I'll see what it's like once I've got it in hand before I make any crazy decisions lol I'd definitely like to see this puppy when it's finished!! Trix does some great looking work from what I've seen!! And I wouldn't stress too hard since it is 1/1000, which seems to be a fairly large sprint run compared to some of the others I've seen since I started getting more into knives... My .02 anyway!!

I think if you did'nt like the coloring on the lockside it could be reblasted to hide it?.

We've been PM'ing back and forth. I'm shipping it to him tomorrow. I'm really excited about this one!

I was thinking of having the screws and standoffs bead blasted, and a grooved "textured" carbon fiber scale made for mine.

Definitely want to see the pics when yours is done.

Antony,

I'm going to go with smooth CF on mine I think. I'll definately post pics when I get it back.

BP Green, What color scheme are you going for?

As far as the ti side goes I'd like to get as much color as I can get from the heat treat but it's very hard to say with any certainty how it will actually turn out. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

How safe is heating the Ti? How does it effect the titanium if at all?

My understanding is that titanium does not respond very well to heat treatments. That means you won't see much of a change in hardness or strength resulting from heating/cooling cycles. Don't use a blow torch on any of your blades.

no question trix is talented.

but how about all ti???

All it's missing is a Ti blade!

Morimotom,

That is one sweet blade! I thought about going all ti as well but in the back and forth with Trix I settled on the CF.

How do you like yours? Are you glad you did it?

i am glad. i had a minor (very) issue with the relief for lock disengagement and since it is closer to the blade than others i have, i actually got bit a couple times.

with this new scale, the relief is much larger, scalloped, and sits closer to the butt of the handle. this allows me easier access to the lock and no worry of getting bitten.

Wow, that is one heck of a knife you got there! Should you ever decide to sell just give me a call first and I'll spare you all the hassle. I'm serious. . . ;)

Anyway you just gave me an idea. The knife is on its way to Trix even as we speak. It is scheduled to arrive at his place on Thursday.

Maybe I can have Trix modify the liner and and cf scale cut-out to give me a bit more room when disengaging the lock?

By the way did Trix do that work for you or did you do that yourself?

Just picked up my third of these today. Already have one with a custom scale from
Barry H. Maybe I'll hit up this guy for the third.

no, trix did not make this scale, and neither did i. it was made by bhyde (forum name). of all the aftermarket scales i have personally handled, perhaps 10, bill's is the best. the size, jimping, and beveling would make it difficult to tell apart from a factory ti scale, if one existed. also note it is tapped for the clip, keeping the four positions still an option.

btw, i have never personally handled any of trix's work, but it looks amazing in the photos.

it is possible he can modify the existing liner, however it may be less work to just fabricate a new liner. the factory liner is skeletonized and may limit his options in reshaping.
