I want to order some fiber glass lanyard tubes but the place where I am ordering from only has it in .248 will that be a problem or will it not mater?

That's a good thing. A .250" tube won't fit in a .250" hole. You may still find it a very tight fit and end up needing an F-size bit (.257") for the hole.

No problem :) Where are you finding fiberglass tubing? That sounds interesting.

Head to the local metal shop and see if they have any stainless drops. chances are something that small won't register on the scale and they'll give it to ya for free.

What are you talking about?

Your "response" has absolutely nothing to do with the OP's question (which was entirely reasonable). That is exactly the sort of nonsense that pushes skilled professionals away from this subforum. :thumbdn:

I certainly don't intend to scare you away, but I beg of you... read more, post less.

I think it was a response to this thread, two windows open and he picked the wrong one.

That said, I still think it's bad advice, the stainless used in machine shops is hardly ever a blade steel.

I wouldn't use 420 for a blade

why would it make a bad lanyard tube?

Nobody is talking about a 420 lanyard tube. Op asked about a fibreglass lanyard tube, then count assumed your response was not for this thread ( because it was totally unrelated) and assumed it was for a thread which he posted the link to. The other thread was a question about making a 420 knife for saltwater use, and count meant he would not use 420 for any blade regardless of purpose.

Hopefully I understood you right Count, if not feel free to correct me too.

thanks guys I thought it was a miss post also, I do use 416 pins and tubes but wanted to get something with some contrast hence the fiberglass. :)

I talk about lanyard tubes, and you all think this crap is more relivant?

Way to make friends and influence people! When coming into a forum as an unknown, it's generally wise to sit back and get a feel for it, rather than get snotty. Some of these cats are professionals who make their living with this stuff. We are making fun of you because your response made absolutely no sense.

and lets be honest the thread was all but over at post 4 or 5.

I'm pretty sure that even as a registered member, you can close it if you want, since it's your thread. Click on the "adminisitrative" thing at the top right of the page.
