Pioneer Owners - Which Color Alox?

There's an individual on another Forum who customizes SAK's from mild to wild; I'm thinking something simple like adding the pruning hawkbill blade to a new Electrician, and a Hunter green set of scales, replete with torx screws in place of the rivets. Anyone have experience with a custom job?

Or one of these new ones for $65 from Swiss Bianco Canada (a BF Vendor).

True, but that's not the old-school version for those that want it. Notice the difference in the cross. Personally, I'd get the SBC one, since the price isn't terribly bad for a Red Pioneer.

:) I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about color not versions. Still, this is a very nice knife and I was glad to get one for my collection! Excellent quality and a deep red...much deeper than my pic. +BC has black pioneers for $55 so 10 bucks more for red is a good deal I think!

I've been wanting a Farmer in another color, but the prices of them are just way too much.

The Pioneer on the other hand doesn't seem to be that bad. My preferred choice of color (black) seems to be more abundant as well... hmmm.

I just picked up my black pioneer from the river site for $28 last Thursday, they had 9 left then. Just checked now and they have 1 left for $37. If I'm correct(I might be misinformed on this) but I "think" I read that the blacks were a special run, maybe from 2011 so I'm thinking once they sell out at this price, they are about to go way up for the ones you can find.

Black Pioneers available for $20.97 + $3.99 shipping from a non-BF sponsor; it's where I got my two Pioneers and Electrician in silver, which was $25.97. Silver Farmer is $28.97...I really don't get the prices that are asked on that South American river site, fleaBay, and other web stores.

Didn't want to take a chance on not getting one, so I ordered a lot of (2) blacks, Pioneer and Cadet for $55 shipped. I may have been able to save a few bucks by shopping around, but I've dealt with this eBay seller in the past and have had good experiences. I also like that fact that I'll get both, at once, from the same place.

Hey, can you send me a PM with the place you got the black pioneer from at that price! :D

Thx.

Sent you an email.;)

P.S. I do expect you buy what you need, and not buy out the entire stock so as to inundate fleaBay with $200.00 black Pioneers by a seller from Michigan. I am capable of some pretty bad juju when I see that.;)

P.P.S. I also don't want to see $200.00 black Pioneers from any fleaBay sellers from Texas.:D

The only reason you see this is because people will pay the price. It goes with anything and everything. Tired of high cost of going to a pro football game? If everyone would stop going, they wouldn't charge those prices. As long as people will pay 10X+ more that want something is worth, you'll continue to have this in the marketplace.

@Alnamvet68 - thanks for holding off the juju! LOL

I would like to find a couple different color Pioneer's someday. I have a silver one and black one on its way but would like to get one or two more different colored ones! Can anyone help me out in the search? :)

I'm always on the lookout...when I find a source who isn't pricing his knives for the likes of the sheiks in Bahrain, I'll let you know; of course, I'll get mine first and then I'll let y'all know.:D

What more could we ask for! LOL

Question to long term users -

I know the colored alox show wear quite easily, but still retain their color in the 'valleys' in between the bumpy bits.

Do you think it looks better when the anodizing is worn? Almost like worn jigged bone or scratched titanium?

I think worn alox looks excellent. I don't know if I would say new vs worn looks better or worse than the other as they both appeal to me in different ways.

I may like those fancy schmancy colored Alox knives, but black has got to be the MacDaddy of all things Alox....
