Pioneer Owners - Which Color Alox?

I have a Pioneer Swiss Army Knife with Silver Alox Handles and the reason I chose it is because I think the silver handle color contrasts nicely with the Stainless steel tools on the knife.
 
I read somewhere on a review that the silver alox scales appeared to be thicker and more heavy duty than the black. Amy truth to this or is it internet folk lore?
