Pipe Smokers Unite!!!!!

i smoked a pipe for about a year and a half. Did any else start picking up the habit of inhaling, like they would a cigarette, or is that just me?

This is a terrible thread for those who decided to quit smoking for their resolution....:( Stay strong!
Not really, I quit smoking cigarettes when everyone around me was still smoking, it didnt sway me even a little bit. Its all in the heart of the person quitting the habit. I've been off them for over twelve years without a regret.
not if you really want to quit:thumbup:
I had to add this in because its true.

Just for Lexi, none of these will ever see tobacco, my father left them to me. He didnt die of tobacco related illness in spite of smoking a pipe for fifty some odd years. :)
This is one of my fathers pipes, well used, with a European clay pipe.

I smoke a pipe I bought in Italy and my favorite tobacco is a blend that a small cigar store near me makes. My old roommate used to smoke our pipes in the living room a few times a week with a nice glass of scotch. Good times! :D

That's one awesome collection, Leatherman!
Thank you my friend, I am very proud of what my father left me. :)

Thank you. :) You will like that Calabash, they are deceivingly light and the meerschaum liner makes for an incredibly cool smoke. Mine got chipped in our last move to this house, I was heartbroken. I wonder if there is anything that will fill in that chip? I was fortunate to have found this pipe at an estate sale for a very reasonable price. Meerschaum is incredibly brittle stuff. :(

I like glass if i must use a bowl. See you in atlanta, beef. (and the rest of you heads, don't be shy)
I take tobacco in cigs or cigars.

Leatherman, that really is an incredible collection! Thank you for sharing your photos, the hand carved ones are purely amazing! As far as smoking, hopefully I will be able to make the 12 year mark. Some days I can be around other people smoking and have no desire to have one myself...other days are more challenging but so far I havn't caved in!

Its not easy for the first year, I quite resembled a Labrador sniffing the air when I smelled my favorite brand in the air, nose to the air. But, and its a great test, try one! I am willing to bet you will choke on the first drag. This will help, honest. I gave in after six months and took a puff, it felt like fire in my lungs!! No more, and I didnt. Today I get a bad reaction. Old timers tell me its because I quit, one becomes allergic. I now cant stand the smell of a cigarette, and when I get smoke blown in my face the smoker wonders why I get so aggravated at them. :p

Now a pipe, that is a different story. I rekon it to a good bourbon versus a cheap moonshine. A good pipe tobacco is meant to be savored not inhaled, as does a good bourbon.

Quitting smoking cigarettes is a worthy cause, it helps you especially, and as an added benefit it helps everyone around you. Second hand smoke is only second to smoking in health concerns. Be strong and dont let peer pressure get you to start again, sometimes all it takes is a couple of cigarettes to get you started again. I know I would get hooked again after a couple and I've been off them for a while. Nicotine is honestly one of the most addictive substances, and one of the hardest to quit, its not only the drug but the "oral fixation" it goes back to childhood. Watching my daughter wean off the breast was like watching myself get off the cigarette, its eerily similar. I later found out the habit is harder to get rid of than the drug addiction.

Jerry!! Where's my freekin chisel ground Busse??
Put that in yer pipe!!
:)

Just noticed that the noob pipe I bought for 40 bucks was a Leonessa from Italy, any comments?
