Orvet found some info - the company, Thurber - Whyland closed in 1893, so that implies an old knife; 19th century!!!!!

The pipe is a Sepilo - Meerschaum, the knife is a Fontenille Pataud - Pialincu bone handle.

Why aren't any of my Tobacco suppliers from here, and two county's North or South and East from here not carrying VELVET, it is a Kentucky Burley "SWEET" Pipe and Cigarette Blend that hasn't been around for some time ~ I always look for it, and I have even asked about it, they say they can't get it ~ Went on-line looking for it last week and nothing came up either ~

They have that listed page 48 of the summer 2023 catalogue that I got in the mail. They have a lot of the old pipe tobaccos that grandpa used to smoke. Decent prices on good tobacco and pipes from Dunhill, Peterson, and others.
