Pistol squirrel hunt today

It's a 410/45Colt barrel. I've had it probably 15 years. It has a screw in choke. The barrel is rifled.

Nothing wrong with that one. I have the .357 version with the screw in choke for the hot shot cartridges. The one you have is not the one I am thinking of. If I remember correctly, around 35 years ago TC had a .410 barrel that they sold with no rifling. Until the ATF started asking why they were selling sawed off shotguns  They eventually came to the agreement with the ATF that the ones they sold everyone would apparently make believe they were legal and TC would stop selling them. I don't remember how many were sold but I know it wasn't many and they would probably be worth a small fortune to collectors. I know my boss (I worked for a guy when I was a kid in a gun store for 10 years) had one of those. He loved it and it was very unique and quite a conversation starter at the range. :D

I saw one of the .410 smoothbores for the Contender (not the Encore) at the last gun show I went to and it was $400! The worst part is I almost bought it for the novelty. I have not seen one before or since and am still kicking myself for not buying it since that was likely my only chance. I have the .410/.45LC that is rifled and has a screw in choke (same as Grossman?) for my Encore and it's very nice out to 15-20 yards with the .410 but, due to the long chamber, doesn't shoot the .45LC as well as I would like.

If I every saw one for that price, I would jump on it with both feet and I wouldn't even call my wife about it. :D I believe they are pretty rare and among collectors I would believe they would pay a very good price for one of those to fill out their collection.

Make a lattice rack out of green sticks about 2ft wide by 3 ft tall (total of 9 squirrels from three days).
Make a fire. SMALL, low heat! You don't want to cook the meat.
Put a punky log over the fire so that all you have is a lot of smoke.
Stand the lattice rack over the smoke like a lean-to.
Place the cleaned squirrels on the rack and hold them open with small sticks.
Let them dry for 6-8 hours being bathed by the smoke.
Don't let the meat start to cook. Spoiled cooked meat will make you very sick.
When the squirrels have shriveled a bit and are about 3/4 the size they started you have jerky.
All you want to do is remove the moisture from the muscle tissue by drying the meat in the sun.

Maybe I should do a tutorial?

a tutorial would be awesome

I wish I had that scoped Ruger set up yesterday. I spied a cottonmouth water moccasin in my back yard and grabbed my little 3" barrel S&W .22 revolver. I had taken the summer snake shot out and reloaded it with Hollow Points. It hit 80F yesterday, so the reptiles were out. Well it was near dusk and my old eyes just don't focus as well as they used to. I hit the snake about 4" below the head and he slithered off into the brush as my second shot missed altogether. Should have left that snakeshot in the gun. But if I had that Ruger, I could have surely popped him where I intended.
