As much as I love my Maxpedition Proteus pack it can sometimes be a pain to wear depending on what clothes I'm wearing. For this reason I have found myself heading out more and more with no pack, thus very little kit.
With the colder weather closing in I felt I should be a little more prepared and decided to invest in a manbag, in fact Mrs Pit bought it for me !

Anyway I headed out today to try it out.

Somehow I don't think this trail gets used much !!!

I wish I had a tenth of Snickers energy, she ran round so much she must have covered four times the distance that me and Maisy did.

When I reached the top much of the views were obscured by mist, still a great spot though !

I wanted it large enough to hold my army cup and canteen which it did perfectly !

The dogs were eating these berries from the Arbutus trees that had dropped to the floor:

This bird also seemed to enjoy feasting on the berries which prompted me to try them and see what all the fuss was about. I found them quite hard and tasteless, not very exciting at all....still, edible food is still food eh !

lol i love yo ur murse sir. my wife and now even my daughter pick on me for having one but whenever they need something the murse always has it. i know yours is for woods walking but same principle.

very cool bag sir

Great pics. I always go out with some sort of bag - even if I am just going to my backyard. Never know if I might want to randomly take off on a hike in the woods.

That's a nice bag man, looks perfect for quick hikes. If it doesn't match your shoes at least it matches the Booshway :D

Great man bag, great Jack Russell,if we could harness the energy of a couple of hundred Jack Russells energy independence would be a done deal!

Man bags are cool with me. I have the Maxpedition Fatboy for just such uses.

What is is that you do that allows you to get out into the woods so often?
I'm jealous!

Pitdog, I love the pics. You know I am a shouder bag lover too lol.

Over the years I have tried different ones, about 3 weeks back I got a Maxpeddition Remora gearslinger,

to try out. I just ove it.

Here is what I am carrying in mine.

Just the basics :D

Way to Pit.

Aweome pics Pit, a lot of the time on day hikes I just carry a shoulder bag too. Just enough to hold a few essentials and some things for contingencies. I've been looking into getting one that's more durable than the one I carry, thanks for giving me food for thought.

Bryan, I like the looks of the Ramora too, I'm pretty sure it would be durable, but it looks just a little bulky for what I am wanting, got any pics of it on you?

Hi Pitdog, Yea I just love that elk antler kephart knife that I made. Ever since I seen that pic of Horace Kepharts knife

IMG_0694.jpg

I knew that was the perfect knife design, well, that is for me anyways.
Throw in my elk antler hatchet
IMG_0881.jpg

and with them 2 items there is not much I can't do bushcraft wise in my neck of the woods.

Mistwalker, the bag is 9" tall and 3" thick for the main part of the bag and only 7" wide. As for carrying it I think this carrys better than my sitka or my noatak gearslinger. and I can change from left to right shoulder if I want. I just love that option.

I will get some pics taken of it on me in the next day or so and pm you Brian
then you can see if you think it might be still to bulky or not.

Bryan

Nice carry all Pit! I have a Maxpedition that I take hunting, and I have an LL Bean bag that I use the rest of the time. It is a single shoulder design and will be changed to small overnight bag soon.
