Cool thread title eh !!!

Ok I might as well say before I start the thread that I cheated today....I took my Tracker !!! Just having the Tracker turned me primal again and there was no way Primal Pit was gonna fail !!!!!

The rain had not stopped since yesterday.....

Maisy had come better prepared today as well....hey don't laugh, she is getting on in years now !!!!

I had tried out my new fire starting formula at home in the garden before heading out today. I used cotton balls again but rolled them in hand sanitizer and a little bit of a Zip firestarter. This was then wrapped in foil !

It also helped today that I managed to find a site that was slightly sheltered.I pried off a gnarly piece of fatwood from an old stump and before ya could say Tom browns wilderness school my Tracker had chopped it into smaller pieces ( the Tracker rocks when it comes to chopping and IMO chops as well as a small axe or a knife that's 2 inches longer !).

A mistake I made yesterday was setting my tinder out and then taking pics of it for you guys before lighting it, so today I thought I'd light it and then take pics. Can you believe that today it lit first strike !!!!!!

Before long the fire was roaring away...check out my tiny fire steel, I used it so much yesterday that it had snapped !!!!

Here is a pic of my little refuge just before I drank my tea ( it looks smokier than it was, I think it was condensation on the camera ) !

After drinking my tea I put out the fire and then took a couple more pics before heading back....

Did I mention how much I love my Tracker !!!!

Way to go bro .... and the title is great

shows what a little perseverance can do for you

Nice pictures, pitdog. Starting fires when everything is wet can be extremely difficult and sometimes impossible. Good thing you found some fatwood. I'm glad that Tracker is working out for you.

That's so fake, Pit!!! Anyone could see that this is all set up and you are in a studio complete with a rain machine. Its difficult for the untrained eye.... but I can see the propane burner under the so called "stick fire". Nice try, buddy....... the "stuffed Maisy dog" was the icing on the cake.

:p

Nice,Pit !
Fatwood is a great tinder.
Man,how've you managed to broke that firesteel? Was it very worn?I have the same one,but I've only tried it once - it stays in my PSK.I regularly use my Primus firesteel(the large one) and it's very worn, but I haven't had any problems with it yet.Only the handle falled out,but I've glued it back to its place :D

Yeah it was real worn in the middle area, I have actually got a blister from trying so hard to light a fire yesterday !!!:o

Lmao!

good! fatwood is great stuff.

about the firesteel breaking...just goes to show how great these things are. even when you use it so much that it snaps in half, you can keep on using it.

i wore my old firesteel so thin that striking it snapped it in half, then i just glued a handle on it and kept on using it. now it is the one i hand out to inexperienced people coming in the woods with me.

firesteels

I've got a blister from my LMF too.The striker isn't comfortable for long time striking :(
I much prefer the saw blade of my Vic Trekker.

Jeff, gave out a few rods just as samples and I missed out but other say these are the Bees Knees ! LOL !

My buddy just got a new plasma torch, I am going to make one of those weird looking knives. I liked the Kabar Warthog and that reminds me of one of those on steroids. However I can't see me cutting one of those out with my dremel.

How hard can it be? Benicio needed about five minutes to build one out of a spring leaf in the forest - friction-firemaking included. :D ;)

Nice job Pit, I had an expectation you would have more success on the 2nd attempt.

And Magnussen, Dude that was funny.
