old tires get as hard as concrete. the sebenza might not have ended up as sharp but it seems to cut a lot easier.thanks for the video

Cool vids! Nice to see someone actually use their seb other than just spread peanut butter on bread with it.

Hi So-l0,

Interesting test. What was the beginning condition of each edge?

Sal,

I sharpen freehand and do not know the exact angle for all, I know they are all (well not the ZDP SE Endura) around 12 per side and finished on your 306 UF. LOVE that stone for touchup!

I am hoping these demos will show what grind geometry does when cutting thick stuff that has a ton of friction.

However I will not claim any scientific testing in any of the Tire Cut videos! :D

Three more videos added to the original post, I'll also post them here so you don't have to scroll up

Great videos!

You really have something against tires huh?

Just kidding my friend, Thank you for the videos and your time making them. :)

Thanks for the videos! Once again, I love hollow grind blades! They just seem to work the best for me and friction seems to be less of an issue as to other grinds. Forgot to ad, a SE blade is always handy when cutting things like that! I always have one on me when doing work on the farm.

I'd bet a Millie or Para would eat up a tire too.

You still have your D2 Para?;)

I missed these!

I have done a few tire cuts myself. I just finished doing some fairly extensive tire cutting (see below) with a Stretch II (PE) ZDP-189. Not sure how long it will take me to edit it to a digestible length, but I would be happy to share it if you are interested.

Lol :D how many cars have you had over the years?
nice videos So-lo, if only for the carnage
I also found the xm-18 to be a not so good slicing knife, sabre grind, thick blade and all.

good job
