Damn that Military represented.

I had zero doubt.

Thanks So-Lo

S90V is awesome.

Can someone explain to me something? Is the S90V the same as CPM440V? Since they changed the names I have been confused.

Thanks!

if i understand my alphabet correctly the tag 60v replaces the desigination 440v. 60v has declined in use since 90v which followed was a much superior steel. from my info i understood that 90v had less problems with brittleness. these alloys are mostly relegated to custom makers. one of our formites [phil wilson] has probably researched these exotics more thoroughly than anyone else, in fact he was working with these steels way back there when most of us had no awareness of same.nearly all these alphabet alloys were developed for use in industry--bearings, high pressure spray jets, cutter planes & a need for steels to work in applications with great strength at high heat levels.

I have tried many blades and the FFG will out cut any other I have tried on tires. The handle size and shape on the Military is a winner too for hard cutting tasks!

Nice bracelet BTW. Looks a lot like the links on mine.

So that we don't have to watch all the vids, can So-Lo or someone else write up a short statement of results and conclusions. Thanks.

That PE military was just silly. Full flat grind did good work in that case. Cool videos and thanks for the comparison. It nicely highlights some of the advantages and disadvantages of certain blade grinds.

My understanding is that 440V = S60V.

Nice videos So-Lo:thumbup:. I need me a Military now.

If I'm not wrong S90V is another name for CPM-420V. 440V is, as mentioned above, S60V

Thanks for all the kind words :)

We have more knives lined up (ZDP Stretch 2, Full Flat ZDP Endura, and another "special" one :D) I'll post the videos here as I upload them. I also plan on doing a discussion video with all the knives "demo'ed" so far. The full flat Military push cutting that tire blew me away.

Thanks for watching

great tests So-Lo. I think they provide some very valid (and real world) information.
Hope you get to do some more soon:D

I have an idea for tactical hard use:

Sneak up on other people's cars and see how quickly you can do these tests:p

Bump for some new blood :D

(I'll also post them here so you do not have to scroll up)

I'm really impressed with your tests and especially with the results of the Sypderco SV90 Military. What an amazing blade? Is it easy to sharpen and/or maintain?
