Looking at a fairly pricey custom knife at plaza cutlery but I've never ordered from them.

They have a good reputation?

I have never ordered from them online but I have purchased many blades from them in store since they are only 5 miles away it is my go to knife store. They are really nice guys and I have only heard great things about them. I personally wouldn't hesitate ordering from them. :)

I've purchased from Plaza Cutlery once online and once at the South Coast Plaza (SCP) retail store (tiny store). They're good to go. No issues. They've been at SCP for over 40 years now.

Tiny store maybe, but you don't need a huge shop to sell knives, and their selection and qty of inventory is huge. I am always treated very well in the store, and they encourage customers to handle the knives. I try to stop in any time in south OC.

I've purchased from them many dozens of times over the course of several years (I live near them), and can vouch for them. They're awesome.

Plaza Cutlery is EXCELLENT!! Dan Devlan, the owner is one of my friends as well.

They are good. I ordered from them once . Purchased a grayman knives dua with no issues. Their prices are slightly higher sometimes though. Good place though from my expierence and even had a short conversation with the guy over the phone.

I live down the street and love their selection. The guys are very knowledgeable. The problem is that I hate going in there most of the time. I am a woman and am always ignored. Blatantly. If I do manage to get their attention to show me a knife (when the store is empty) they quickly jump to the next guy who enters. There is only one employee I like, and I will go in when I see he is there. His name is Caleb and is always very helpful. He even invited me to be his friend on IG and invited me to some FB groups. The older guys are just not interested in me. It isn't like I am not going to buy anything. I always buy stuff from Caleb, and he has shown off my Shiro and CRKs to them. The straw that broke my back is the last time I went in there. There was a guy and his friend. I walked in to give a PM2 a test drive and see what all the fuss is about. Two employees were talking to them and the two guys explicitly said they weren't going to buy anything (they were visiting from another country). I wanted to see the PM2 and one employee said he will see me when they were done with the two guys. I don't know why it took 2 employees to show them knives that they said they wouldn't buy. I walked out and will not go back in there unless I see Caleb. This is just my own experience. If you are a man, this is a great shop with a large selection. It is worth checking out, even if I personally don't like to.

Thanks for the info.

Their website looks like something from the geocities era which kind of made me wary.

Have you spoken with Dan?

I honestly don't know. I have spoken with a few older gentlemen and a younger guy. I am not trying to steer people away. I think they have a great selection and fair enough prices. I know that I have personally not had a good experience the majority of the 10 or so times I have walked in.

That's a shame that you were treated that way, I'd hate it too. I've had other stores act like that to me, it sucks.

Thanks. I am used to it. I have "masculine" hobbies (cars/jeeps/knives/electronics/watches/sneakers). Most people are cool but sometimes I am overlooked. It's part of human psychology. 99% of the time they are right and a woman isn't really into knives and probably won't buy one.
