Go on eBay check knives out that you might want. Better to find knives you can bid on you can get some great deals. Be sure and check there feed back.

Hard to beat a CRK Sebenza 25 or Insingo. However they usually run a little bit more than your budge on the second hand market. Southern Grind Spider or Bad Monkey knifes are super and around $250 new.

I bought my Small CRK Inkosi on the exchange for under $300.00. I'm sure you can find a Sebenza there for that much. Hard to beat that.

Well as far as functionality (good lock up, good edge geometry, materials etc.) You could go with some of the midrange spydercos (delica/manix/etc.) for well under the 300 mark. I find myself gravitating to them even though I have some folders that cost significantly more.

But as far as pride of ownership, something that's a little more special I'd consider offerings from 3 sisters, microtech(ugh I want a socom elite bad haha), guardian tactical (deltrix are kinda cool). Sabenza are a staple in the knife industry too.

That said, you may be able to find a custom folder within that range too, may be worth checking it out on the forums. If I were you I'd probably try save up a little more and try and go custom, but that's just me. Good luck in your search! :D

Why is that? There are plenty of strong framelock folders out there.

They give the appearance of strength, but they are far from it. Compared to Benchmade's Axis lock, Spyderco's Power Lock, or Cold Steels Triad Lock, they don't come close.

What are you doing that you need that much lock strength? I've used some framelocks pretty hard and never had a problem.

Same thing could be said about anything more than a slip joint. However, the blade should break before the lock fails, if it's called a locking folder, IMHO.

Wow, way too many amazing options available in that price range. But here's my current favorite. The ZT0456. It's chunky, rock solid, yet action is still smooth as butter. I'm finding the interesting blade shape and geometry to be very usable in a multi-functional, do anything kind of way.

If you do end up with yet another wimpy frame lock, please refrain from batoning upside down. [emoji12]

Spyderco Military or Benchmade 710, depending on the locking mechanism you prefer.

Both are classic designs and very pocketable.

And put the leftover cash in the same pocket! :D

I would firmly second this, and I'd add the Al Mar Sere 2K. All classics, all proven, tested designs. You'd be well served with any of them.

Hell, with a $300 budget you could almost snag all three if you looked hard enough in the right places.

Horsefeathers!! I will take my frame locks over ANY liner lock. But, that is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. I just happen to vehemently disagree, and that is ok.

To the OP, did you choose a knife, or are you still looking at your options?
