PLEASE help me get rid of my Spyderco Military.

I've carried a Military for years. Looking so BIG compared to what I was used to, I thought, WOW, but will I actually carry such a beast. Now after many years (and knives) later I can't imagine any other knife that I would put in my pocket for just about any situation. It's size is so deceiving... it feels so natural after useing it for a short time, most folders seem miniature to me, but the light weight, ease of opening and closing, thinness, grip, toughness, all around ergos just work! Gonna take one heck of a knife to make me ever want to put away my Millie (currently (m4 w/peel ply cf), and with all the different models.... JUST GOTTA LOVE AT LEAST ONE MILLIE!!

I feel the same way about my Para 2...

I think you may have fell in love with it for the same reason I did. The size/weight ratio, big handle, and the full flat blade.
I've also stopped carring by sebenza's(and other Ti knives) as much, and carry a Millie much more.

The knife doesn't make since(for me) in Ti, as the light weight is the main reason I love it. 4.25oz in G-10, and 4 oz in the CF for a knife with a 4" blade is amazing IMO. If I want heavy I'll just carry my large sebbie.

If I were you I would think about getting in a pre order for one of the CF M390's. I have several types of Millies, but the only one I now carry is a CF(BG42).

I also really like the PARA2, but the Millie is more versitle. You can choke way back with 2 fingers on the handle and really get some whip going when you need to clear vines, weeds, etc..

I have a problem, I absolutely cannot get rid of my Military. The knife is ugly as sin, it's tip down only when I really like tip up, s30v is not my favorite steel in the world and honestly, the orange handles, although useful are pretty ugly when they're as dirty as they end up by the end of the week. For some reason, and I can't figure out why it's kicked Striders out of my pocket, Chris Reeve knives out of my pocket and all various other high end knives. I use the knife every day, cutting sandpaper, boxes, tape, pretty much anything that needs to get cut, gets cut with my military. I've never taken it apart to clean or lube it, occasionally I blow it out with an air compressor. The blade is not perfectly centered, but it does not interfere with anything. The edge came very sharp, and i've never sharpened it and I'm a sharpening junkie. Just a weekly stropping. I use this knife so much that I rarely strop it with anything higher grit than JRE black compound, which will shave hair with ease. Help me, I beg of you.. Show me a knife that will kick this awesome monstrosity out of my pocket. To this day, with all the $$ I've spent on knives, I've yet to find one that I love more than the basic Military. There's gotta be something out there, but I doubt it. :p

Honestly, at this point the only things that interest me are the Large Damascus Seb and the Scott Cook Lochsa, I'll probably pick up a Lionsteel sr-1 too but I bet you anything I'll end up selling it.

I have to admit, this turns me on.
Seeing this knife ACTUALLY USED, with marks and scratches is great.
I can live vicariously through you since mine is a safe queen for now.
It's like a new type of gear porn: "Used Gear Porn" - someone please start a thread!

Lets just cut to the chase. Chicks dig the orange Military. Thats enough reason right there to carry it.

And, its sorta to easy to find:

powernoodle, I love this pic. I am way too anal to just drop my knives in a box, even users.
Someday, when I have "enough" high end and collectible safe queens, and "too many" users, I may be able to do this.

As far as the "chicks dig it" reference:
Are you saying that not only do we have to put up with obnoxious douches in loud flashy fast sports cars and motorcycles, but now there's a new status symbol to attract women?!?!?!:p;)

I have subsequently purchased a lined Sears 7 drawer tool chest to hold my knives, so they feel much better now. Sorry to bring this thread off topic with my pic, though the point was that the orange Millie is easy to spot.

Oh I don't know, I think the Para2 also takes the carbon fiber pretty well. I think it's the nested liners that really helps cut down on the weight. Coupled with carbon fiber and my Para2 in S90V doesn't weigh a thing.

Speaking of which, the Para2 is the perfect EDC. The military can get a bit big, but the Para2 is just right.

The reason the Military benefits from CF so much is that it only has partial liners, handle flex is mostly determined by the rigidity of the scale material. The Para 2 is great in CF, but I doubt you would be able to feel the difference between a G-10 and carbon fiber Para 2 if you were blindfolded.

(And the Military is actually a medium sized knife, it should have another inch of blade length to be called "large".)

You know, I have both the Para 2 in Carbon Fiber S90V and the other in CTS-20CP and Gray G10. The weigh difference is actually fairly noticeable.

And now that you've mentioned it, I can't find my Para2 in S90V, so please excuse me while I freak out.

Okay, just found it in the back of my safe(don't know how it got there:D).

Again, I can tell the difference between the two with my eyes closed. The difference is minor, maybe half an ounce, though I definitely noticed the heft when I first held the CTS-20CP version. I would definitely agree that the carbon fiber would be better appreciated in a larger knife, and more if both scales have it:thumbup:.
