Hi,

Maybe someone can help me. I have been looking for this model Buck folder. I saw it for sale on Ebay.au. The ad did not mention what model it was. It has Blade Length: 9cm Tanto Black, 440 c Steel, Handle: 8.5cm G10, belt Clip on other side, Thumb stud both sides for easy opening.

I have searched the Internet and Buck's web site but no mention of this Knife. I realize it's a retired model, but maybe someone here knows more about it.

It looks similar to a Strider GB.

Thanks in advance for any help rendered.

...I'm probably the worst candidate in this forum to give out opinions on tactical knives ( being the traditionalist that I am ) but in my opinion...that knife is NOT something made by Buck. It doesn't match any handle configuration that I'm aware of whether it be a Buck, Buck/Strider colaboration or a Strider. I may possibly be full of _ _ _ _ ( which isn't too hard to imagine ) so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt until someone with far more knowledge of "tacticals" pops in to let us both know...

I admit, looking at the picture there are somethings funny about the way "Buck Knives" is imprinted on the tang.

I cleaned up one of the Ebay pictures with photoshop, and looked atthe ones from the other thread and noticed there does not seem to be a Buck date code on the tang that I can see.

That strikes me as odd, since even all the imported Bucks I own still have a date code.

australian don`t make knockoffs , mate. that china and taiwans job
by saying this i don`t intend to stir anyone up , merely stating my point of view

If you look at the second pic is that not a model # and date stamp on the choil? I can't zoom it in :(

I saved the pics and tried to zoom in with photoshop and clean them up, it appears to say "China", but I can't say 100%, by the time you zoom in enough, it starts to blur bad.

Several things jump into my fragile little mind.

1. It's just a new Buck that they haven't told us about yet, which I've noticed new models hit the market alot without any pre-release hype, especially Bucks made offshore. Those tend to just "show up" in stores with little warning, so this could fit that pattern.

2. Someone in China making fake Bucks and selling them outside the US thinking that will keep them from getting caught by Buck awhile, hence all of these being seen in Australia and not here in the states, where they would surely be noticed sooner.

3. The Australians are making their first steps into worldwide counterfiet brand name knives. (JOKEING, I whole heartedly agree with SIRGALANT, not a great chance of it) :D

Hmm...

The Buck logo on the attached card does not use the same fonts as the Buck logo on the website, or the picture taken from a Buck Box shown inline the auction text. The N in KNIVES does not drop down into the little dip in the border, etc. But looking at the bigger photo in the other thread, the printing on the blade looks correct.

Buck does not normally (ever?) print their logo on knives, not even the Chinese stuff as far as I have seen, just BUCK letters. But there's a first time for everything, or I could just be wrong.

This is an exact copy of the Strider GB pattern, but it doesn't look to have Strider on it anywhere.

...It's really close but if ya compare them side by side there are a few real noticeable differences between this one and the Strider GB...

It sure would help if we could get someone from Buck, that knows whats going on, to chime in on this topic!!!

Well that eliminates me! :D
Actually, I have never seen them either and an looking for someone here to give me an official answer that I can pass along.
