  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

PLEASE POST YOUR TRADITIONAL GERMAN FIXED BLADES & POCKET KNIVES,

Here are some better pictures after a cleanup of my recently acquired Puma 959 showing the variation in the stag, which I understand is pretty common with these knives. I like it!!

I also tried to get a picture of the main blade showing the scratches and abuse. I’m open to suggestions on how to best attack this without harming the blade etch. In the end, I don’t mind the scratches as they tell the ‘story’ of this knife.

This is becoming a new favorite as I love the heft and snap on this beauty!!

Looks like a few games of mumblety peg in sandy soil may have been had. I've done that to a few of mine back in the day.

I received an epic delivery of carbon steel Otters today. 🥳

Size reference:

From the top:
Webermesser - African Blackwood, with a fat carbon copper bolster
Ankermesser large - Sapeli
Three Rivet - African Blackwood
Hippekniep large - Plumwood
(Pioneer and PM2 for scale)

The fit and finish are excellent on all of them! Superb quality for the price. The actions are good, but still a bit tight on the Hippekniep. I am well pleased!

I rummaged through a box of old things recently, and found this old pen knife. My dad bought it for me when I was about 10-12 years old, after I had lost a SAK Classic. I estimate it to be about 35 years old.

It's a knife from Solingen, and had a whale insignia on the fake-wood scales. The fake wood finish (printed on the plastic scales) and whale had worn off a long time ago. Otherwise it is still in great shape, with good snap on the blades. I am a bit shocked to see that the edges are still reasonably sharp. I expected to see mangled bevels, because my dad taught me how to sharpen on an old dished oilstone around that same time. I must have reset the bevels on a Lansky many years ago, but I cannot remember.

Does anyone recognise this maker?

I can't seem to find anything solid on Harrington Cutlery Co Germany. I find that odd, especially since this is one of the most perfect knives I've ever seen. It was assembled by a master. Seriously... whoever made this knife loves their work.

Beautiful dark covers that are either really dark cocobolo or some form of ebony. It was difficult to show the colors.

Awesome fit, finish and action. No half stops but that actually works well for this one. Super smooth and snappy.

If anyone has any iformation about this Harrington please share!

Thank you for the showing of your knives everyone, love them!
RickHuf RickHuf - Nice Knife- there's a decent write up in Goins about Harrington Cutlery Co- Not German based, but in Massachusetts, this may have been a contract Knife made for them in Germany? which has happened more than once.
That would make sense. Maybe Russell Harrington (Dexter Russell today) was using the name on imported knives. Just like the imported Russell Barlow knives.

Thanks!
